Time spent mostly on the poor
In Vietnamese showbiz, Quyen Linh is a famous MC for his charity work, and is also the face often chosen by producers to host charity and humanitarian programs.
Because he spends most of his time with the poor, Quyen Linh has little time for his family.
In the recent Vietnamese Family Home program, we felt sorry for the orphaned children who have not known their parents since childhood. Quyen Linh spent his own money to give scholarships to the children worth tens of millions of dong.
In fact, when taking on the role of hosting this program, the male MC has often spent his own money to help those in difficult circumstances. Sometimes, he supported a family to build a roof, sometimes he helped an orphan get a private toilet...
Quyen Linh confided that many times, he felt like he had no home. He constantly traveled across the country, not to film charity programs but to do social activities from heart surgery, eye surgery, cleft palate surgery, building bridges, building houses or programs in hospitals... For over 20 years, almost all of his time has been devoted to the poor.
Because of that, the actor of "Bloody Money" has little time for his family. He always feels guilty towards his children because he did not often accompany them when they were young. His wife takes care of everything in the family, from the economy to the children.
He traveled so much that sometimes he would not return home for several months. Quyen Linh's children did not recognize him because his appearance had changed so much due to exposure to the sun and rain.
"When my children were very young, I would go away filming for 3 months, sometimes up to 5 months. They didn't know how to be angry because they were so young. When I came back, I was so dark that they didn't recognize me. Every time I played with them, they cried. One time, they asked me why I kept going away, and when I came back with a dark face, they didn't like it," the MC said. He also confided that his children were also worried, afraid that their father would go far away and get sick. There were times when he came back from his trip, he even had malaria.
The children are proud of their father.
Quyen Linh's family always supports his work.
However, what Quyen Linh wants most is for his children to see that their father's work is meaningful. There were times when he was not home on his children's birthdays.
Even on school days, I can't take them. But in reality, their father is helping the poor. If they understand that, they will be happy.
"I always tell my son that there is nothing to be sad about, but to be happy because his father is not going out. His father is going to remote areas to sympathize with the most difficult lives in this life. He should be happier because his father travels so much," he shared.
Not only telling his children, according to Quyen Linh's revelation to Giao Thong Newspaper, he also often takes his children on charity trips, so that they can meet people their age but with different circumstances, so that they can personally give to the poor and understand the value in their father's footsteps.
For him, the children may be disadvantaged because they don't get to hang out with their father as much as other children, but when they grow up, they will be happy because their father is the one who connects them to happiness and meaningful things.
In fact, up to now, Quyen Linh's children have all understood their father's work and are happy and proud of their father.
In particular, he was happy because despite being exposed to the sun and rain and having a dark appearance, his wife never criticized him. "My wife only feels sorry for me," he laughed.
After decades of traveling across the country, working tirelessly on programs for the poor, Quyen Linh admits that his health is now worse than before. Currently, he spends more time with his family.
