After more than a month of urgent construction, on September 30, Binh Trieu 1 Bridge in Ho Chi Minh City - the vital route across the Saigon River - completed the clearance raising phase. After one month of construction, the 11,000-ton Binh Trieu 1 Bridge in Ho Chi Minh City has been raised by 1.1m. This is considered an important milestone, opening the final phase including structural reinforcement, road surface completion, and preparation for reopening to traffic. According to the reporter's record on October 2, after more than a month of construction, the Binh Trieu 1 bridge span has been raised by 1.1m, reaching a clearance height of 7m. This is an important parameter, meeting the technical requirements, and at the same time creating the premise for the next items to be deployed smoothly, ensuring the progress of traffic opening according to plan.
At the scene, the bridge span had completely separated from the abutment, creating a clear gap. This shows that the entire static lifting process is carried out very elaborately, requiring absolute technical precision. To do this, the construction unit used a hydraulic jack system combined with hundreds of steel wedge plates, meticulously operating to ensure balance for the giant structure weighing thousands of tons. The entire bridge structure is gradually raised, ensuring safety and stability throughout the construction process.
Under the bridge, hundreds of steel plates support the massive structure. During the construction process, the team of engineers and workers are on duty 24/7 at the bridge piers, taking turns operating the jacking and additional wedge systems. Every detail is strictly monitored to ensure absolute safety for the project as well as the proposed progress. According to the Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, the work of raising the clearance of Binh Trieu 1 Bridge has been completed as planned. Currently, the contractor has entered the stage of inspection, steel reinforcement, and bridge piers reinforcement. It is expected that by November 30, the bridge will be completed and the surface will be returned to traffic.
The two projects to raise the clearance of Binh Trieu 1 Bridge and Binh Phuoc 1 Bridge are expected to create conditions for cargo and tourist boats to travel on the Saigon River more safely and smoothly. Along with that, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction will coordinate with functional units to review and evaluate the entire bridge system with unsynchronized clearance to develop an implementation plan in the next phase.
