More than 60 universities and businesses join the AI and semiconductor training network

On the morning of October 18, the University of Technology (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City) held a conference to announce the establishment of the Network of excellent training centers and talents in technology 4.0, the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductor technology in the southern region. These two networks were formed on the basis of implementing Decision No. 374/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister approving the Project on developing a system of excellent training centers and talents in technology 4.0 by 2030.

The highlight of the program is the official announcement of two excellent training networks on AI and semiconductors, marking the formation of a 4.0 technology cooperation-training-research ecosystem in the southern region. These two networks bring together 62 universities and enterprises in the high-tech field. Specifically, the AI Network currently has 27 members including 20 universities and 7 enterprises; the Semiconductor Network has 35 members including 18 universities and 17 enterprises. Along with this network are 2 operating teams, each with 8 members, who are experts from universities and enterprises.

Sharing about the goal, Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said that each network aims to organize at least 1 excellent program on adaptive training, retraining, advanced training, and specialized training for human resource development in the field of AI and semiconductor technology; become a center of excellence and talent training in the field of AI and semiconductor technology in the country and region; become a center of research, development and application of excellent AI and semiconductor technology in the country and region, meeting the development requirements of businesses, society and the country's development; attract at least 100 good scientists and experts who are foreigners or Vietnamese people living abroad to participate in teaching and research in the network.

Witnessing the launching ceremony of the two networks, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Quang Hung, Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Information (Ministry of Education and Training), said: "These are two key networks, belonging to the group of 11 national strategic technologies, playing a particularly important role in training, research and development of high-quality human resources, contributing to the implementation of Resolution 57 of the Politburo on the development of science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation and recently Resolution 71 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development".

According to Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Hung, among the 13 selected higher education institutions, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology is the leading unit in two networks belonging to the strategic technology group AI and semiconductor technology. The formation of excellent training and talent networks is a breakthrough solution to develop the country's knowledge and technology centers.

Therefore, the Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Information (Ministry of Education and Training) requested Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and other universities and research institutes to quickly develop a plan for cooperation in training, scientific research, technology transfer and innovation. Technology enterprises accompany the school in training and order scientific research and technology transfer. Local management agencies create conditions to connect the regional innovation ecosystem, promoting the strengths of the southern region.
