Technology Solutions (HTS) based in the Czech city of Brno and the US corporation Curtiss-Wright have successfully developed black boxes for aircraft that can connect online with the ground during the flight, thereby allowing continuous collection of flight data.
Black box HCR-25 |
The black box, called the HCR-25, has been certified for use on Boeing 737, 767 and 777 aircraft. According to Tomas Kral, head of HTS's voice recorder department, because the HCR-25 is connected to the ground via satellite, all data is immediately transmitted to the ground in real time, facilitating analysis of the activities taking place in the cockpit. HTS spent four years developing and obtaining certification for the three Boeing aircraft. The HCR-25 will also be customized to each customer's requirements. The company is preparing a delivery system that will allow airlines to choose, for example, where the data will be transmitted and how it will be processed.
