On the afternoon of October 1, at Kim Ngan commune, leaders of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri , local authorities and the Board of Directors of Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School had a meeting with the parents of 75 students who did not attend class. The dialogue took place in a frank atmosphere, with many indignant opinions raised.
The cause of the food poisoning was a previous incident, when 75 students had breakfast at school and showed symptoms of poisoning, of which 40 had to be hospitalized. This group of students mostly came from remote villages, staying at the school from Monday to Friday every week.

After the incident, many parents said they were no longer confident about the quality of meals, as well as the management of activities at the school. Some people affirmed that they had lost faith in the Board of Directors, especially Ms. Do Thi Hong Hue , Vice Principal, who is directly in charge of boarding.
Ms. Ho Thi Huong, whose child is in 4th grade, shared: “Before, I heard my child say that the food had a smell, and sometimes it was spoiled, but I still trusted the school. Now that there is a food poisoning incident, I cannot continue to send my child to the school. If safety cannot be guaranteed, we want to send our child to study at a separate location near the village for convenient care.”
Mr. Do Van My, the school's principal, apologized to parents for the suspected poisoning incident.

He hoped parents would remain calm and continue to send their children to class to avoid disruptions to their studies. According to Mr. My, while the kitchen is temporarily closed, the school will find alternative solutions to ensure meals for students.
Parents demand temporary suspension of vice principal
During the meeting, parents not only requested a change in the food supplier and a reassignment of catering staff, but also insisted on the temporary suspension of the vice principal in charge of boarding. This was considered a prerequisite for them to agree to send their children back to school.
Many parents requested the education sector, government and school to temporarily suspend Ms. Do Thi Hong Hue.

In response to this request, Mr. Do Van My affirmed that he would report to the commune leaders and at the same time make a proposal to temporarily suspend Ms. Hue from work. He also assigned another teacher to replace her in managing and operating the boarding school to stabilize the situation.
Regarding meals during the temporary closure of the kitchen, the school committed to choosing a business that ensures food safety and hygiene standards to serve students. This commitment was agreed upon by parents and they agreed to let students return to school from the morning of October 2.
