Inter wants to recruit Indonesian national team captain

Inter Milan see central defender Jay Idzes as a potential candidate to replace De Vrij and Acerbi, as the two defenders enter the twilight of their careers.

Inter Milan are eyeing Indonesia national team captain Jay Idzes.

Since the start of the season, Idzes has shown rare consistency and character, becoming a solid support in Sassuolo's defense in Serie A. This impressive performance quickly brought him back to the attention of Inter, who had been watching him when he was playing for Venezia. However, at that time, Idzes chose to move to Sassuolo for more regular playing opportunities.

Born and raised in the Netherlands, Idzes played for the youth teams of the “Orange Storm” before deciding to become naturalized in Indonesia – the homeland of his maternal grandparents. He made his debut for the national team on March 21, 2024 and is currently the captain of the 4th qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup in Saudi Arabia, playing a key role in the “Garuda” defense.

Inter's renewed interest in Idzes shows the Serie A champions' ambition to rejuvenate and strengthen their defence.
