With the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator having been around since 1963, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer has been the undisputed king of the full-size luxury SUV segment. With that history and Jeep’s push, Stellantis thought it would be a success with the new-generation Jeep Wagoneer when it returned for 2021. But Jeep's full-size luxury SUV line has flopped, so the entire Wagoneer lineup will be revamped in 2026. As part of the mid-life update, the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer will merge into a single model, the 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, which will feature an updated design and an all-new hybrid system.
The 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer borrows heavily from the electric Wagoneer S. Part of the facelift, the car gets a completely new front fascia with a minimalist 7-slot grille. The grille is harmoniously combined with new headlights. Below is the more prominent central air intake of the 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, surrounded by new T-shaped LED daytime running lights. Elsewhere, the Wagoneer logo on the hood has been replaced with the Jeep logo. The rest of the design remains largely the same, save for new full-width LED taillights and the Jeep logo at the rear. There's also less chrome detailing, and the car gets redesigned wheels ranging in size from 18 to 22 inches. Jeep barely mentioned any interior changes, but the Grand Wagoneer does get a new head-up display on higher trims, which has a “significantly wider field of view and double the virtual image distance compared to previous versions.”
The Grand Wagoneer also gets a larger 12-inch Uconnect5 infotainment system, replacing the previous 10.1-inch screen that came standard on the Wagoneer. Under the hood, the car is equipped with a familiar twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter I6 engine, producing 420 horsepower and 635Nm of torque. Unfortunately, Jeep appears to have dropped the high-powered version, which had 540 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque. Most notable is an all-new range-extended hybrid version, called the Grand Wagoneer REEV.
This version borrows heavily from the Ram 1500 REV, formerly known as the Ramcharger, and is equipped with a 92kWh battery pack and a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that acts as a generator. It is considered the fastest and most powerful Grand Wagoneer ever built, with the company estimating a total output of 647 horsepower and 620 pound-feet of torque. This allows the SUV to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 5 seconds and has a range of over 500 miles. The 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will go into production later this year, followed by a range-extended version. That version will be a “late release,” so Jeep will have more information closer to the launch date.
