The festival is held with the theme "Celebrating joint development cooperation" on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Germany diplomatic relations (September 23, 1975 - September 23, 2025).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, German Ambassador to Vietnam Helga Margarete Barth expressed her appreciation for the strong cooperative relationship between the two countries up to now, and introduced the meaningful activities taking place within the framework of the Festival.

“Today’s German Festival is one of many outstanding events in the series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. We want to bring the commemorative activities to many different localities, not just focusing on Hanoi ,” Ms. Helga Margarete Barth emphasized.
In his speech, the Ambassador affirmed that over the past three decades, German development cooperation in Vietnam has accompanied the country's development process for the benefit of the Vietnamese people - from initial support in social security to the current focus on responding to global challenges such as climate change, energy transition and sustainable growth.
Through the Festival, the Ambassador wishes to present a comprehensive picture of the Vietnam - Germany Strategic Partnership, reflected through diverse activities. In particular, this year's Festival brings together nearly 40 German organizations and businesses in many fields from economics , culture, science to sports.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang expressed her joy and honor to attend the German Festival 2025 right in the heart of Hanoi - the city of a thousand years of culture.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the event, taking place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations, has special significance as the two countries have together experienced half a century of close cooperation in many fields, from economics, trade, investment to education, science and sustainable development.
“Today's German Festival is not only an opportunity for us to enjoy and experience culture, but also a vivid symbol of Vietnam-Germany friendship,” the Deputy Minister affirmed.
The Deputy Minister appreciated the creative, open and inspirational spirit that the festival brought through various activities such as the Career Bus, Magic Cube and sports, music and culinary programs typical of Germany.

“In Hanoi - the city honored by UNESCO as 'City for Peace', I hope that our two countries will continue to coordinate to promote international cooperation for peace, stability, security and sustainable development in each region and in the world, and effectively respond to current global challenges such as climate change, food security, energy security, epidemics... in the current world context”, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized.
The festival programs will start from 9am on October 18th to October 19th at Hoan Kiem walking street with attractive activities in many fields. The festival is open to the public, welcoming everyone to attend and experience.
