On October 2, in Magdeburg city, Sachsen-Anhalt state (Germany), a welcoming ceremony for Vietnamese students of the Viethoga – The German Way project took place.
The event was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Nguyen Dac Thanh; Minister of Economics , Tourism, Agriculture and Forestry of Sachsen-Anhalt State Sven Schulze, along with representatives of German agencies and businesses, and nearly 80 Vietnamese students studying locally.
The Viethoga – The German Way project is a cooperation initiative between the Sachsen-Anhalt State Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA), the Magdeburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) and the Magdeburg Handicrafts Chamber of Commerce (Handwerkkammer), bringing Vietnamese students to Germany to learn vocational skills in the fields of hotel, tourism , health care services and engineering.
The program not only contributes to providing skilled, high-quality human resources for German enterprises but also promotes friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Germany.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Dac Thanh highly appreciated the effective cooperation between the state of Sachsen-Anhalt and Vietnam in the fields of economics, trade, investment, especially vocational training and labor cooperation. The Ambassador said that Sachsen-Anhalt was the first locality he visited after starting his term in Germany.
The Ambassador sincerely thanked the local government, organizations and businesses of Sachsen-Anhalt state for accompanying Vietnamese students in training and supporting them to learn German and integrate well into the local community.
He emphasized that this is a vivid demonstration of the effective and mutually beneficial cooperation between Vietnam and German localities in the field of vocational training and development of high-quality human resources.
The Ambassador said that the Viethoga project has helped young Vietnamese people access knowledge, a modern working environment and practice discipline, while encouraging them to preserve the good qualities of the Vietnamese people, becoming "future ambassadors of Vietnam", introducing and spreading the beauty of traditional national culture to the German people.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Sven Schulze expressed his pleasure in welcoming the Vietnamese students and emphasized the importance of the cooperative relationship between the state of Sachsen-Anhalt and Vietnam over the years. He shared that he has many Vietnamese friends who have visited Vietnam, thereby understanding more about the Vietnamese people and culture. According to Mr. Sven Schulze, Vietnamese culture has many similarities and is suitable for German culture, so when he came up with the idea of receiving vocational training for foreign youth, he immediately thought of Vietnamese youth.

The success of the Viethoga project has proven his assessment correct. German businesses attending the ceremony also praised and appreciated the Vietnamese students – who were commented to be polite, well-mannered, hard-working and always smiling. “Your presence makes the atmosphere in our businesses more cheerful,” said Minister Sven Schulze.
Two Vietnamese students studying in the state of Saxony-Anhalt also shared their confusion in the first days in Germany, and expressed their sincere thanks to the company and teachers who wholeheartedly guided them, helped them overcome difficulties, and were more determined to study and work harder. They affirmed that without that support, they would not have achieved the success they have today.

At the end of the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Dac Thanh, Minister Sven Schulze and representatives of the Sachsen-Anhalt state government expressed their confidence in the prospects of cooperation between the two sides. The delegates said that the valuable experiences from the Viethoga project and the good relationship between Sachsen-Anhalt and Vietnam in recent years will continue to open up many training opportunities for Vietnamese youth in Germany, creating a bridge connecting the two localities, contributing to promoting cooperation in the future.
