3 subjects for grade 10 exam in 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City

Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has finalized the 3 subjects for the 10th grade exam in 2026: Math, Literature and Foreign Language (mainly English).

The 2026 10th grade entrance exam is the first exam after the merger of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, and Ba Ria - Vung Tau . The leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year will combine both the admission and entrance exam methods to suit the reality. The entrance exam for 10th grade at public high schools will be implemented in some special areas.

Public high schools in the remaining areas will organize entrance exams for grade 10 with three subjects: Literature, Math and Foreign Language (mainly English). This method is to ensure stability and create convenience for parents, students and schools after the merger of the three localities.

Specialized departments will develop specific plans for each region and each school applying the form of admission by examination or test, submit to the Director of the Department of Education and Training for approval and implementation according to regulations.

In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City will have more than 76,000 candidates taking the 10th grade exam. The public 10th grade enrollment rate in Ho Chi Minh City is 91.6%. If candidates choose a school that suits their learning ability and is located close to their home, almost everyone will be sure to get into public school.

Admission score for grade 10 high school is usually the total score of the exam subjects: Admission score = Literature score + English score + Math score + Priority points, incentive points (if any).

In 2026, the number of students in Ho Chi Minh City will increase significantly due to the merger of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau which took effect from July 1.
