Promoting the Vietnam-Germany Strategic Partnership

On October 7, Ambassador Nguyen Dac Thanh paid a courtesy visit and had a working session with Mr. Florian Hahn, State Secretary for Asia-Pacific, German Foreign Ministry, to discuss promoting bilateral cooperation and international and regional issues of mutual concern.

At the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Dac Thanh thanked State Secretary Florian Hahn and the German Foreign Ministry for creating favorable conditions for him to officially take up his duties soon, and at the same time directed the German Foreign Ministry to closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Embassy in Berlin to successfully arrange working visits of leaders of the Vietnamese Government, ministries, branches and localities to Germany in recent times.

Ambassador Nguyen Dac Thanh suggested that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other German ministries and sectors continue to closely coordinate in implementing the common agreement between the two Prime Ministers in their first phone call on September 29, especially promoting cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, green finance, renewable energy, digital transformation, etc.

On this occasion, the Ambassador requested the Government and ministries and sectors of Germany, as an important and influential partner in Europe, to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese goods to access the market, lobby the EU to soon remove the yellow card for Vietnamese seafood, and encourage German enterprises to invest in priority areas of digital transformation, green energy, and technology transfer to Vietnam.

Expressing his affection for Vietnam, State Secretary Florian Hahn highly appreciated the large Vietnamese community in Germany for its active and valuable contributions to Germany's socio-economic development.

State Secretary Florian Hahn affirmed the German Government's high regard and interest in promoting the Vietnam-Germany strategic partnership, especially cooperation in manufacturing and processing industry, technology transfer, creating conditions for German enterprises to expand investment and participate in major infrastructure projects in Vietnam.

Mr. Florian Hahn expressed his wish to visit Vietnam soon to witness the strong development.

The two sides also exchanged and noted proposals to jointly facilitate the operations of the Embassies and Consulates General in each country.
