
On the evening of October 18, at the Youth Cultural House, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held the opening ceremony of the series of activities "Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Days" with the theme "Ho Chi Minh City - 50 years, where rivers converge". Attending the opening ceremony was Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.
The event is chaired by the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City , in coordination with the Union of Literature and Arts Associations , Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union and related units.
“Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Days” is a series of activities organized for the first time on a large scale , bringing together all fields of art from traditional to modern.
The event marks 50 years of formation and development of Ho Chi Minh City's literature and arts after the country's reunification (1975-2025) , and aims to be held annually to honor, promote and develop the artistic creativity of the City named after Uncle Ho .
The program is also an activity to celebrate the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress, term 2025-2030, which was recently successfully held.
Activities within the framework of the program take place at the Youth Cultural House (No. 4 Pham Ngoc Thach, Saigon Ward) and locations in Binh Duong , Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Con Dao.

Spreading the creative power of the City named after Uncle Ho
In her opening speech, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy - Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee emphasized that 2025 is a year of special significance with many important events such as the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
And from October 13-15, the City successfully organized the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress, term 2025-2030.
In that excited and proud atmosphere, “Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Days” is a meaningful event, reflecting the rich creativity and deep love of art of the City named after Uncle Ho.
Previously, the City held a Conference to summarize 50 years of Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts at the City Academy of Officials, affirming the important role of literature and arts in social life and praising the contributions of generations of artists over the past half century.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, the opening ceremony is a meaningful continuation activity , opening a new phase in the development of culture and art - a phase of innovation, integration and development of cultural industry . Ho Chi Minh City strives to become the center of cultural creativity in the region , a place to inspire and spread creative inspiration to the community.
“The city always respects and is grateful to generations of artists and writers – those who have turned art into spiritual strength, accompanying the Party Committee and the People of the City throughout the journey of struggle, construction and development.
From the Singing for My People movement during the resistance war years, to the stage, music , cinema, and fine arts works during the renovation period and today's creations, all demonstrate the mettle, affection, and aspiration to rise up of the City named after Uncle Ho," Ms. Dieu Thuy affirmed.

Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy emphasized: "With the spirit of "City of creativity, affection and aspiration to rise up", I believe that the Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Days will become a place to honor, connect and inspire creativity for generations of artists and art lovers.
From here, the flame of artistic creativity of the City named after Uncle Ho will continue to burn forever, spread, contribute to building the comprehensive development of Vietnamese people, making culture truly become a solid spiritual foundation of society."
Honoring 50 outstanding literary and artistic works
In order to recognize and honor the achievements of 50 years of literary and artistic development in Ho Chi Minh City, the City People's Committee has selected and recognized 50 outstanding works according to Decision No. 1928/QD-UBND dated May 16, 2025. These are works of high ideological and artistic value, contributing to portraying the creative appearance of Ho Chi Minh City over half a century.
The list of honors spans across the fields of photography, cinema, fine arts, architecture, literature, music, theater, dance and literature and arts of ethnic minorities.

Some of the typical works honored include:
Photography: Mother and son on the day they met (author Lam Hong Long), Wartime photos (Lam Tan Tai), Stubborn Saigon (Nguyen A), Overcoming the darkness (Tran The Phong), Secretary Vo Van Kiet hands over the flag of departure to the youth of Ho Chi Minh City (Thien Dieu).
