Urgently appraise the plan to excavate artifacts suspected to be antiquities on Hoi An coast

The Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to grant an excavation license to the Hoi An Center for Cultural Heritage Management and Conservation.

On the side of Hoi An City People's Committee, the Provincial People's Committee proposed that the city allocate local budget or mobilize socialized capital and other legal capital sources to conduct archaeological surveys and specimen appraisal (phase 1) in accordance with the provisions of Resolution No. 29/2022 of the Provincial People's Council on the regulation of expenditure levels for archaeological exploration and excavation from the state budget in Quang Nam province.

In case the estimated implementation cost is large, exceeding the local budget balance capacity, report to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and decision.

As reported by Quang Nam Newspaper, on December 26, 2023, local people discovered the frame of a wooden ship that looked like an ancient ship gradually emerging from the sand layer on the coast of Cam An ward. The location where the ship was discovered is close to the coast, about 400m from the headquarters of Cam An ward People's Committee.
