Khanh An sings reformed opera with Meritorious Artist Kim Tieu Long, encouraged by his grandfather

(Dan Tri) - Young singer Khanh An surprised everyone when she sang Cai Luong for the first time with Meritorious Artist Kim Tieu Long, receiving special support from her grandfather - People's Artist Thanh Tung.

Not only making his mark in lyrical and bolero music, Khanh An (born 2006) has gradually affirmed his versatility by boldly trying his hand at many other genres. During the recent music night in Hanoi , Khanh An spontaneously sang a duet with Meritorious Artist Kim Tieu Long in two excerpts from the reformed opera “Han Mac Tu” and the song “The girl watering the beans”.

Trying her hand at traditional music for the first time, Khanh An surprised the audience with her smooth voice, subtle expression of emotions and natural ability to get into character. The performance received warm applause from the audience.

The young singer also expressed her honor and emotion at being able to sing alongside Meritorious Artist Kim Tieu Long, whom she has admired since childhood.

“I am very grateful to Mr. Kim Tieu Long for his wholehearted guidance and passing on to me the love of Cai Luong. This is a special performance, helping me discover another part of myself,” Khanh An shared.

The female singer said that she learned from her seniors not only how to sing, but also a humble attitude, respect for the audience and her profession.

People's Artist Thanh Tung, Khanh An's grandfather, was also present at the concert to cheer on his granddaughter. "Watching my granddaughter and Meritorious Artist Kim Tieu Long perform an excerpt from Han Mac Tu , I was truly happy. Seeing my granddaughter put all her heart into her art and be loved by the audience, I felt very relieved," he emotionally shared.

For Khanh An, this is not just a performance, but an important milestone in her artistic journey when she is recognized by the public and receives more love and trust from her predecessors.

Although pursuing folk and bolero music, she still shows a special attachment to reformed opera through performances combining bolero and vọng cổ, bringing the image of a young artist who retains the "soul" of reformed opera.

Recently on her personal page, Khanh An announced the good news of being accepted into the Vietnam National Academy of Music. She said that performing alongside big names is a valuable opportunity for her to learn more and prepare for her future.

Khanh An was born and raised in Hanoi, the daughter of People's Artist Nguyen Manh Hung. Her grandfather is People's Artist Nguyen Thanh Tung. Because of that, from a young age, Khanh An was instilled with a love of music by her grandfather and father.

The singer born in 2006 has won many awards, the most notable of which is the runner-up prize of The Voice Kids 2019. In 2024, she continued to make her mark at the Solo with Bolero competition with the runner-up position.
