Nguyen Ngoc Anh: "I am very happy to see Ho Hoai Anh regain his form"

(Dan Tri) - The female singer expressed her joy when musician Ho Hoai Anh returned to music, full of energy and creativity after personal events.

At the album launch event of Nguyen Ngoc Anh's Promise on October 16, musician Ho Hoai Anh expressed his emotions when talking about the female singer: "Ngoc Anh is one of the friends who still believes in and sympathizes with my music , and until now still does not say my music is old."

The male musician also appreciated Nguyen Ngoc Anh's change in singing style: "Ngoc Anh is renewing her voice to be closer to young audiences. I also have to adjust my writing style, and find a common voice with her in the studio."

According to Ho Hoai Anh, he composed 3 songs for Ngoc Anh in the album Loi Hen Uoc, including Khep lai do dang (MV released in September), Dong sang di mong and a Pop Ballad song that is her forte. All 3 songs have different musical nuances, from narrative, intense conflict, gentle and poignant to modern and individual.

Sharing about her relationship with Ho Hoai Anh, Nguyen Ngoc Anh said: “I often dream about musician Ho Hoai Anh, I don’t know why (laughs). When I commissioned songs, I wanted him to compose happy love songs because he was in a happy marriage, but he sent me songs that were relatively sad and haunting.

However, I took inspiration from Ho Hoai Anh's sad story in the past to sing, and I really sympathized with the music and lyrics of the work."

She also expressed her joy at seeing Ho Hoai Anh “regain his form” and be creatively full of energy after personal events. “For an artist, those are rare moments. I was very touched to see him write for me with all his emotions,” Nguyen Ngoc Anh said.

In addition to Ho Hoai Anh, the album Loi Hen Uoc also features musician Pham Thanh Ha, owner of the hits Tinh Yeu Mau Nang, Dua Nhau Di Troi, Bua Yeu .

In particular, the song Dong Sang Diep Mong is the first collaboration between Nguyen Ngoc Anh and Tung Duong - the singer known as "Divo of Vietnamese music".

“I have long idolized Tung Duong, I like the way he lives and his passion for music. When I am with Tung Duong, I feel like I am filled with positive energy. If I say I follow Tung Duong’s example, it is true, because he is the person I admire,” Ngoc Anh expressed.

A special mark in the album is the role of To Minh Duc - Nguyen Ngoc Anh's husband. He not only participated in the duet but also took charge of producing, arranging and composing the theme song Loi Hen Uoc.

To his companion in both art and life, Nguyen Ngoc Anh expressed his deep gratitude: “He is not only my life partner but also the one who helped me change my musical thinking. The scariest thing for an artist is to look back after 20 years and still be at the same place. Anh Duc has been persistent in “the rain soaks in the soil”, helping me open my heart to something new. Thanks to that, I have today’s Promise ”.

Talking about the journey with his wife to create a new album, singer To Minh Duc compared himself to a "coach" in the studio, who helped his wife change the way she expressed music.

“I think that only the artist can change a habit. But in this album, besides being a producer, I see myself as a coach, someone who changes my wife's playing style.

During the recording days, we argued until our voices were hoarse, but in the end I was very proud to have helped my wife find a new way of singing, a new emotion," To Minh Duc confided.

According to him, Nguyen Ngoc Anh's change in this album is not only in singing technique but also in musical thinking, more refined and restrained performance - something that an artist needs to have after many years of working to renew themselves.

Singer Nguyen Ngoc Anh was born in 1981 in Quang Ninh . She won the Gold Medal at the National Voice Contest (1999), Third Prize at the Hanoi Young Voice (2001) and became famous after winning Second Prize in the light music category at the Sao Mai Contest (2005).

She has released the albums: Wonderful World (2007), Late Blooming Flower (2011) in collaboration with musician Do Bao, From the Heart (2016) in collaboration with musician Pham Hai Au and Gently Sing Old Love (2022) in collaboration with singer To Minh Duc.
