On October 13, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province announced that the Kate festival 2025 will take place for 3 days, from October 20 to 22, with the main ceremony on the morning of October 21 at Cham temples and towers in the province. This is also the first year that the locality has synchronously implemented the project "Preserving and promoting the values of the Kate festival of the Cham people in the period 2025 - 2030" approved by the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province.
The special feature of this year’s project is its dual objective: to preserve traditional cultural identity and turn the Kate festival into an attractive cultural tourism destination in the sunny and windy land. With a total budget of more than 10.3 billion VND, the program focuses on three main pillars: supporting traditional ceremonies, investing in infrastructure and developing accompanying cultural and tourism activities.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: "The project aims at sustainable development, not just stopping at conservation. We expect the Kate festival to become a cultural symbol, a bridge of exchange between the Cham community and tourists, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the province. In the coming time, the province will invest in upgrading infrastructure to relics, renovating Cham towers and developing traditional craft villages such as Bau Truc pottery, My Nghiep brocade weaving, creating a cultural space associated with the festival."

Traditional dances such as fan dance, Ginang drum dance... are performed at the Kate festival in 2024.

The Kate Festival, according to the Cham Brahman tradition, is held on the last day of June and the first day of July in the Cham calendar (October 20 and 21 this year). The opening ceremony is the procession of Po Inư Nưgar costumes from the Raglai people in Phuoc Ha commune to the temple in Phuoc Huu commune (Ninh Phuoc district, old Ninh Thuan province) - a sacred ceremony that shows the connection between the two ethnic communities.
On the morning of October 21, three sacred sites including Po Klong Garai tower, Po Rome tower and Po Inư Nưgar temple will simultaneously hold traditional rituals.

Notably, this year Khanh Hoa has restored the Raglai people's ma la troupe in the procession, a precious cultural feature that had been interrupted for many years. This is an effort by the locality to preserve the festival's identity.
In addition to the solemn ceremony, this year’s festival also has many exciting activities. On the evening of October 20, a special provincial-level art program at Huu Duc village stadium will recreate the colors of Cham and Raglai culture through traditional music and dance.
