Survey of local culture of Muong people in Quang Lac commune

On the afternoon of January 26, the Provincial Tourism Association organized a survey program on the local culture of the Muong people in Quang Lac commune, Nho Quan district. More than 10 businesses providing travel, food and beverage, and hotel services participated in the survey program.

Quang Lac commune is located in the south of Nho Quan district, with a population of about 7,200 people, of which the Muong people account for 70%. Muong culture in Quang Lac has many unique, rich and diverse features. The commune currently has 6 Muong ethnic cultural and sports clubs, including: love singing groups, playing mam, cuisine, folk games, gongs, and indigenous customs and practices.

However, through many changes in geographical, historical, social and economic circumstances, the Muong culture has more or less faded away. At the same time, the exploitation of local advantages to create unique cultural tourism products is still limited.

The survey team listened to the leaders of Quang Lac commune and the club leaders present the plan to organize a cultural exchange program with the Muong people, expected to be held after the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024. Activities in the program include: gong parade, folk games, creating display booths, culinary experiences, singing and dancing.

Through the survey, Ninh Binh Tourism Association and travel service businesses have a clearer understanding of the situation of preserving, conserving and promoting the Muong culture; thereby consulting, surveying, connecting and building plans to develop tours and typical cultural products that harmoniously combine the traditional cultural identities of the Muong people and attractive tourist destinations.
