The house has a typical tubular architecture of the ancient town, the front is the bustling Nguyen Thai Hoc commercial street.

Tan Ky ancient house is about 500 square meters wide and is located in the center of Hoi An ancient town ( Quang Nam ).

According to the Quang Nam Province Tourism Promotion Center, this house was built in 1741 by artisans from the famous Kim Bong carpentry village of Hoi An.

From the outside, Tan Ky house looks like hundreds of other ancient houses in Hoi An. However, the difference is the distillation of the quintessence of Vietnamese - Chinese - Japanese architecture inside the house, highlighted by the system of wooden pillars and sophisticated decoration.

The harmonious combination of many Asian architectural styles has created a unique, distinctive whole for this 283-year-old house.

Tan Ky ancient house has suffered historic floods, the worst of which was in 1964 when water reached the ceiling of the first floor. However, the house still preserves almost intact its ancient cultural and architectural values.

In particular, this place is considered a "living museum" because it contains a treasure trove of valuable ancient artifacts, preserved for 7 generations.

In 1990, Tan Ky ancient house was honored to be granted the National Historical and Cultural Relic certificate and was recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage.
