There is no sign of North Korea supplying weapons to Russia, Pyongyang "will pay a price" if it does this

On September 5, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan called on North Korea not to provide any lethal weapons to Russia, emphasizing that Pyongyang would pay a price if it decided to do so.

According to Advisor Jake Sullivan, there is no sign that Pyongyang has supplied large quantities of weapons to Moscow, but negotiations between the two countries are "progressing positively".

"We will continue to speak out and we will continue to call on North Korea to abide by its public commitments not to provide weapons to Russia. This (providing weapons to Russia) will not help North Korea make a good impression and they will have to pay a price for this in front of the international community," Mr. Sullivan said at a press conference at the White House.

Earlier, there were reports that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un may be considering a visit to Russia to meet President Vladimir Putin and discuss an arms deal between the two countries.

Advisor Sullivan partially confirmed the above information when saying that the North Korean leader expected high-level engagement with Russia, including at the leadership level.

North Korea has not yet commented, while the Kremlin refused to confirm the information.

Earlier, the US State Department spokesman warned that the country would take action against any country that supports Russia's special military campaign in Ukraine.

Pentagon press secretary Pat Ryder said the arms deal between Pyongyang and Moscow would violate several United Nations Security Council resolutions.

“We call on North Korea to refrain from selling ammunition and weapons to Russia, which would unnecessarily prolong this conflict,” Mr. Ryder said.
