Previously, at 3:30 p.m. on October 8, Khanh Tien Border Guard Station received a report from Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dil (born in 1980, residing in Hamlet 7, U Minh Commune, Ca Mau Province) that fishing boat KG-61923-TS, owned and captained by Mr. Nguyen Van Lanh (born in 1974, residing in Vinh Hoa Commune, An Giang Province), was being sunk by big waves and strong winds about 3 nautical miles west of Vam Huong Mai estuary (U Minh Commune).
Upon receiving the news, Khanh Tien Border Guard Station immediately mobilized 2 fishing boats with 4 crew members, 6 officers and soldiers to the area where the fishing boat sank to assist in rescuing the distressed crew members.
At about 4:30 p.m., the working group and two fishing boats of fishermen arrived at the location of the sunken fishing boat KG-61923-TS and rescued Mr. Nguyen Van Lanh and brought him safely ashore.
Mr. Lanh's health condition has stabilized. Property damage is estimated at about 150 million VND.
