The situation on the Seversk front is changing rapidly. It is reported that for the first time since the fighting in this area, the Russian Armed Forces (RFAF) have simultaneously attacked the city from three directions - north, south and east; creating a three-sided encirclement of Siversk.
2-6310.jpg
The Fedorivka bridgehead in the south has been expanded, and the RFAF is now advancing east of Seversk, near the Sukhaya Plotva River. Russian troops have also taken control of positions near Lake Poselkovy. Another attack is underway from Seversk Maloye, a remote part of the city on the Seversky Donets River, which was previously controlled by the RFAF.
3-3213.jpg
The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are essentially maintaining a peripheral defense line in the city. Although the RFAF is not advancing into the city from the west, the shock troops of the RFAF Western Group are also advancing into Yampil, northwest of Seversk.
4-2879.jpg
The battles for the village of Yampil have been going on for two weeks now. As a result, the AFU commander in Siversk fears that the Russians could move at any moment and start moving towards Zakitne, bypassing Dronivka and pushing further southwest. This could completely cut off the Ukrainian troops stationed in Seversk from their supply lines.
6-7474.jpg
For the Ukrainian defense of Siversk, the situation is further complicated by the fact that the RFAF has not only completely surrounded Siversk, but the Russians also control part of the northern outskirts of the city, the area near Donetskaya and Partizanskaya streets.
12.jpg
After units of the RFAF Western Army Group began to encircle, flank the defenses of the city of Seversk and break through the defenses of the AFU near the village of Rudnik in the northern sector of the front, the Russian troops achieved another success, this time in the southern sector, the RVvoenkory channel reported.
7-2313.jpg
The shock units of the 3rd Guards Luhansk-Severodonetsk Combined Arms Corps (OA No. 3), part of the RFAF Western Group of Forces, launched a sustained offensive, took control of two settlements - Vyimka and Fedorivka and began rapidly approaching the city from the south.
17.jpg
Now, the AFU garrison in Seversk must prepare for the Russians to attack the city from multiple directions at once. However, the AFU will find it difficult to prepare a good defense in Siversk, as the RFAF maintains fire control over Ukrainian supply lines and prevents them from strengthening their defenses.
14.jpg
It should be noted that the fighting for Vyimka (located south of Siversk) has been going on for more than a year. The village was only recently taken over by the RFAF, and optimistic reports about the RFAF taking control of Vyimka by September 2024, as pointed out by military Telegram channels, are false.
3.jpg
Fierce fighting took place there during this time, against the stubborn resistance of the Ukrainian troops. Before the final attack, the 123rd Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Western Army Group cleared several Ukrainian strongholds in the village of Vyimka and pushed the Ukrainians away from the station of the same name, taking up several new positions near Lake Zvanovsky.
11-5042.jpg
Slightly southwest of Vyimka, units of the 85th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade (which had captured the village of Fedorivka on the Bakhmutka River) were engaged in fierce fighting south of Siversk. After the 84th Brigade took control of Pereizne, they were able to advance towards Seversk along both banks of the Bakhmutka River.
2.jpg
Units of the RFAF Western Group, now tasked with clearing the encirclement formed between Vyimka and Pereizne, will help them level the front before attacking Zvanivka, setting up a starting line for the attack on the city of Siversk from the south. The Military Summary channel reported that AFU units in this area have been under constant attacks from Russian UAVs and artillery from both sides, so the possibility of AFU retreating is very high.
13-1790.jpg
Military Review, citing sources from the Russian Ministry of Defense , said that the assault units of the Western Army Group have been continuously overrunning villages south of the city of Siversk for the past two days. On October 3, Russian troops entered Zvanivka, then continued to overrun Fedorivka, and today completely controlled Kuzminivka.
14-9863.jpg
So the situation in the direction of Seversk was changing very quickly, first the threat to the city came from the east, then from the north, and now the southern gate to Siversk was wide open. If the RFAF captured the two adjacent villages of Sviato-Pokrovske and Riznykivka, they would not only be close to Siversk, but also tightly encircle the city from the south.
15-3707.jpg
The developments in the Seversk region show that the RFAF has acquired the ability to attack the city from several directions simultaneously. The AFU defense line, built over many years, is being destroyed, and the enemy is having increasingly difficult time holding the approaches to Seversk.
