After many days of rising floodwaters, Ms. Nguyen Thi Cau (73 years old, Nhat Tan ward, Tay Ho district) helplessly watched her peach garden die due to waterlogging. Ms. Cau said that she had 8 gardens with a total area of over 2,000 square meters, planted with about 1,000 peach trees, but after the big flood, she almost lost everything. "I will monitor for about another week, the trees that are still alive can be planted again, the dead and withered trees will have to be discarded" - Ms. Cau said. In late August and early September, Ms. Cau began checking and banding the peach trees, waiting for the day to sell them, but after the big flood, the peach trees almost all died. "3 months ago, I also bought 300 more peach trees to serve people to celebrate Tet. But because the trees were newly planted and not yet strong, after the last flood, they were heavily flooded" - Ms. Cau sadly said.

Not far away, the family of Mrs. Tran Thi Hoa (56 years old, Nhat Tan ward, Tay Ho district) also lost about 80% of the peach trees planted in the garden, mainly the mysterious peach variety. Mrs. Hoa said that since she started growing peaches, this was the biggest storm and flood she had ever seen. "There are peach trees I have planted for 5-6 years that are still healthy, but after the recent storm, they all died" - Mrs. Hoa said. Currently, Mrs. Hoa and many workers are having to check and dig up the damaged peach trees to throw them away, then plant a series of new peach trees. "All year long, we only depend on the peach garden, now the farmers have lost everything" - Mrs. Hoa lamented. According to Lao Dong on September 15, after the storm and heavy floods, many orchards in Nhat Tan peach village (Tay Ho district, Hanoi) were severely damaged. Thousands of peach trees that were cared for and prepared for Tet are now flooded and dead. Many peach varieties such as the black peach and the seven-inch peach... were submerged by floodwaters. The closer to the Red River, the more severe the situation. Local traders had to dig up the dead and flooded trees, dry them, and then burn them.

According to the report of Hanoi City, the whole city has 11,678 hectares of crops flooded and damaged, this is the largest number among the localities in the North with crop damage. According to the report of Nhat Tan Ward People's Committee, the high water level on the Red River has caused about 25.5 hectares of flooded land in the whole area. Of which, there are 12 hectares of the Red River rock area, 8.5 hectares of the auction area for land use rights for agricultural production purposes, and 5 hectares of agricultural land of households. In particular, about 20,000 peach trees were flooded.
