World Cultural Festival in Hanoi: Strengthening friendship, spreading artistic colors

On the evening of October 10 in Hanoi, the first World Cultural Festival officially opened with many exciting activities and experiences.

Strengthening diplomacy through multinational cultural space

The opening ceremony of the first World Cultural Festival in Hanoi was attended by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly - wife of General Secretary To Lam, UNESCO representative and leaders of ministries, departments, branches and embassies of many countries.

With the aim of honoring the value of cultural diversity and enhancing people-to-people exchange, the World Cultural Festival also demonstrates the spirit of solidarity and cooperation between Vietnam and international friends.

The event gathered 48 participating countries with: 45 national cultural spaces; 34 international culinary booths; 23 domestic and foreign art troupes; 12 units introducing books and publications; 22 countries participating in the international film screening program.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that culture is the red thread connecting people to people, between nations, and connecting the world together.

The Prime Minister hopes that ministries, sectors, localities, especially countries having relations with Vietnam, will continue to respond to the annual World Cultural Festival. From there, this diplomatic event will become a brand, continuing to make culture an endogenous strength, a connecting strength, a strength of international solidarity.

Mr. Jonathan Wallace Baker, UNESCO Representative in Vietnam said: "The festival brings together artists, communities and countries to share traditional values ​​and creative innovation, to listen to each other and affirm that cultural differences do not divide us, but actually connect us together. UNESCO is proud to accompany Vietnam on this meaningful journey."

In particular, with the theme "Joining hands with flood victims", the Festival shows that culture not only honors beauty and creativity, but is also a source of inspiration for compassion, recovery and solidarity.

Artistic colors blend with the journey of experience

The opening ceremony took place at the central stage, combining cross-cultural performances and eye-catching 3D Mapping projections. In particular, the highlight of the event was the special ritual - the Prime Minister and other leaders painted a five-color ceramic painting, symbolizing the cultural harmony between ethnic groups.

During the Opening Ceremony, the audience enjoyed many unique art performances from Vietnam and other countries around the world. From Vietnamese folk and religious melodies such as "Co Doi Thuong Ngan" to traditional Lao dances, the vibrant drum beats of the Latin American performance... All together created a cultural "harmony", where the audience clearly felt the spirit of integration and the celebration of global cultural diversity.

After the opening ceremony, visitors had the opportunity to walk around the cultural spaces of the countries participating in the Festival. Each booth is a “miniature identity”, where countries introduce their unique cultures through costumes, cuisine, handicrafts and traditional arts.

Here, visitors can explore the art of water puppetry, listen to Vietnamese artisans introduce Bat Trang ceramics... At foreign booths such as Thailand, Peru, Cuba, Malaysia, Sri Lanka... visitors can enjoy food, try on traditional costumes and listen to interesting stories about the culture of each nation.

Not only stopping at eye-catching art performances, the World Culture Festival in Hanoi also brings a multi-sensory experience journey, where Vietnamese and world cultures blend together in a space of exchange rich in human colors.
