Revealed coach to replace Simeone at Atletico Madrid

After more than a decade under Diego Simeone, Atletico de Madrid are starting to consider a future without the Argentine coach.

According to Fichajes , the name being mentioned most to inherit Simeone's great legacy is Filipe Luis. The former Brazilian defender is making his mark on the coaching bench at Flamengo (Brazil).

Since retiring and moving into coaching in 2024, Luis has quickly proven his worth, helping Flamengo win the Copa do Brasil and the Brazilian Super Cup, while also developing a disciplined and team-oriented style of play that clearly recalls Simeone’s famous “Cholismo” style. As well as being a modern-minded tactician, Filipe is also highly regarded for his ability to inspire and maintain a fighting spirit in his team.

Filipe Luis is being watched by many European clubs.

His success in his homeland has put him on the radar of many European teams, with Atletico Madrid being considered his “destined” destination. Having played for the “Rojiblancos” from 2010–2019, Luis understands the club’s philosophy, from its solid defensive culture, fighting spirit to its desire to reach European level.

That makes Luis the ideal candidate to inherit the seat that Simeone may leave in the near future. Currently, Luis's new representative is Jorge Mendes - a "super agent" with great influence in La Liga. Mendes is said to be planning to pave the way for his client to return to Spain.
