Heavy rain, schools proactively let students stay home

On the afternoon of October 16, the Khanh Hoa Department of Education and Training sent a document to the People's Committees of communes, wards, special zones, and affiliated units about proactively responding to localized heavy rains, floods, flash floods, and landslides.

Accordingly, the department directed units to closely monitor the development of floods and rains to have timely response measures; maintain regular contact with the local Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control - Search and Rescue and Civil Defense, request local rescue forces to support when necessary; proactively let students take time off from school and develop a plan to make up for lost time at an appropriate time; absolutely do not organize teaching and other educational activities when safety is not guaranteed.

In addition, it is necessary to proactively organize natural disaster prevention and control work; prepare forces to participate in preventing, combating, and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, minimizing damage to facilities, school buildings, documents, books and learning materials; organize 24/7 duty, regularly report to the Department of Education and Training for timely understanding and direction.

In Nam Nha Trang ward, students from some classes of Phuoc Long 2 Primary School were allowed to go home on the morning of October 16 due to flooded classrooms. Phuoc Dong Primary School announced that students from Phuoc Thuong will be absent from school in the afternoon of the same day due to water flooding into their classrooms...

In Bac Nha Trang ward, schools: Vinh Hai 2 Primary School, Vinh Luong 1 Primary School, Vinh Luong 2 Primary School, Vinh Phuoc 1 Primary School, Ly Thai To Secondary School, Nguyen Khuyen Secondary School, Ly Thuong Kiet Secondary School... also announced that students would be off school in the afternoon of the same day.
