Golden rice season in the Northwest

Pham Trong Nghia (Quang Ngai) described the "rice hunting" trip in Ta Van, Y Ty (Lao Cai) as a "healing" trip. Not only admiring the yellow color and smelling the new rice, what impressed him was also the love of the people of the Northwest.

Golden Ta Van Village

In early September, Pham Trong Nghia (34 years old, living in Quang Ngai) went to Lao Cai to "hunt" for the first ripe rice crop. The first stop was Ta Van village in Muong Hoa valley. Driving a small motorbike, when it was drizzling, he followed the road hugging the hillside, overwhelmed by the layers of rice fields, spreading golden from the mountainside down to the valley. Interspersed were thatched-roof wooden houses of the Giay, H'Mong, Dao people and clear streams. Above, the Hoang Lien Son range towered, with clouds drifting around the mountainside, making the landscape even more magical. "Coming here, I understand that it is not by chance that Ta Van village is called 'the place with the most beautiful terraced fields in Sa Pa'. This is also the first time I have traveled to the Northwest alone, all the pictures were taken by local children or people I met on the way. The village is beautiful from the people to the scenery. I saw the mountain train connecting Sa Pa with the tourist attractions, everything was like a moving picture", Nghia shared with Tri Thuc - Znews .

Rice mixed with clouds in Y Ty

Leaving Ta Van village at 4am, Trong Nghia arrived at Y Ty commune after 5 hours of driving in bad weather. The road to Y Ty was challenging with rocks, mud and slippery, but the landscape left an unforgettable impression. In Y Ty, terraced fields stretch across the 1,500-2,000 m high mountain slopes. When the rice is ripe, the entire mountain slopes are covered in bright yellow, mixed with the emerald green of the young rice fields. In the morning, clouds cover the valley, the golden rice stands out in the white mist. In the afternoon, the smoke from the ethnic people's kitchens lingers over the tips of the rice stalks. Compared to Sa Pa or Mu Cang Chai, the golden season in Y Ty is more pristine and less crowded. According to him, Choan Then park and A Lu village are places where you can fully admire the beauty of the golden season and clearly smell the aroma of new rice. "The road down to A Lu is winding and difficult to travel, and there is no phone signal because it is near the border. I got lost in the forest, the locals enthusiastically helped me, but they could not speak Kinh, luckily I met a local police officer who showed me the way out", Nghia said. The rice fields here are usually fully ripe at the end of September, visitors can run along the road or sit in a cafe , enjoy a hot drink and look out at the rice fields.
