As of 6:30 a.m. on July 31 (local time), Ukraine's air defense system had destroyed more than 30 drones in the seventh Russian attack on the city in July, according to Serhiy Popko, head of the Kiev military administration.
Mr. Popko stressed that this was "one of the largest attacks on Ukraine by attack drones during the entire war. At this time, according to the operational report, there were no casualties or damage in Kiev."
Russian state news agencies quoted Russian militants in Ukraine as saying the attacks targeted several military airports and military depots across Ukraine.

Since 8 p.m. on July 30, the capital Kiev as well as most of central and eastern Ukraine have been on airstrike alert. Mr. Popko said the air defense system had participated in attacks on approaches to Kiev and the area around the capital several times during the night.
Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the attack on the city came from several directions. Witnesses reported hearing several explosions overnight, which they said appeared to be from air defense systems repelling the air raid.
