The Russian military has launched a series of drone and missile attacks on Ukrainian military facilities in the rear. During the day, explosions were heard in several cities, including Dnipro (Dnepropetrovsk) in eastern Ukraine.
Video footage captured by a Russian reconnaissance aircraft confirmed the successful outcome of the attack in Dnipro. The attack targeted the Aviatorskoe air base, which houses various Ukrainian aircraft. Local residents confirmed that black smoke was seen rising from the air base after the attack.
The airport was attacked by Russian Iskander-M missiles. The attack was coordinated by Orlan-10 reconnaissance drones.
Analysis of publicly available video footage confirms that the missile hit a parking lot containing Ukrainian Air Force Yak-40 and MiG-29 aircraft. The flames seen on the video confirm the explosion of fuel or ammunition from the MiG-29 fighter.
The decline of Ukraine's air defense forces has allowed the Russian military to create favorable conditions for attacks on the Ukrainian rear, including far from the front line. Russian reconnaissance drones have no problems coordinating precision strikes on strategically important facilities.
In recent days, the Russian army has stepped up airstrikes against Ukrainian military equipment and positions. In Slavyansk, the Russian army launched a fierce missile and bomb attack on military positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to AVP, the Russian military has been attacking continuously throughout the day. Among the targets attacked is the Animal Feed Plant, which has been attacked three times. According to public information, previous attacks on the plant were carried out with a heavy multiple launch rocket system (MLRS), possibly the US HIMARS or similar.
The Ukrainian base in Rybkhoz, which houses the S-300 air defense missile system, was also attacked. Ukrainian air defense forces in the area have been inactive for the past 3-4 days, which can be seen from the accuracy of the Russian strikes.
In the area of the village of Bylbasovka, west of Slavyansk, Russia also carried out an attack with three heavy bombs (FAB) on the railway station area. Since last Friday, to reinforce Bylbasovka, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have transferred a significant number of troops from Cherkasy to this area.
