According to information from the Payment Department - State Bank, recently, the situation of high-tech crimes and financial fraud through electronic channels has tended to increase, with many sophisticated tricks such as impersonating banks to send messages, spreading fake links or QR codes, impersonating police agencies, courts, fraudulently recruiting "easy jobs with high salaries" from abroad, or using AI technology, deepfake to appropriate personal information and assets.
To protect people's rights, the Payment Department recommends that people absolutely do not provide confidential information including: password, OTP, card number, CVV, biometrics to anyone in any form; do not access links, QR codes, applications of unknown origin; regularly check and verify information through official channels of the bank.
At the same time, people need to proactively change their passwords periodically, turn on balance fluctuation alerts and limit money transfer limits. When detecting suspicious signs, customers need to immediately contact the bank's hotline or the police.
In addition, people also need to be vigilant against invitations to invest in super-profitable projects and work abroad to avoid falling into "cross-border scams".
The State Bank emphasized that people's vigilance and cooperation are key factors in preventing high-tech crimes, contributing to building a safe, transparent and sustainable financial and banking environment.
The State Bank, in coordination with credit institutions, will continue to deploy technical, legal and communication solutions to prevent high-tech crimes.
Previously, updating the results of collecting and comparing biometric information with the National Population Database, the State Bank said that as of August 15, 2025, the banking industry had compared biometrics for 123.9 million personal records and 1.3 million organizational records, reaching 100% of the number of accounts generating digital transactions. This activity helped reduce more than 59% of fraud cases and 52% of accounts related to fraud compared to before.
