On the eve of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term, Unit 1 of Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Plant was inaugurated, marking an important milestone, demonstrating the outstanding achievements of Ha Tinh industry during the term.
With a total investment of 2.2 billion USD including 2 units with a total capacity of more than 1,200 MW, this is one of the most modern thermal power projects in Vietnam with great driving force, expected to make an important contribution to the industry and economic growth of the province in general.
Mr. Hoang Trong Binh - Deputy General Director of Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Company Limited said: "With the persistent efforts of the team of domestic and foreign engineers and experts, Unit 1 of Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Plant has been connected to the grid since 0:00 on July 22, 2025, Unit 2 is expected to be connected in the third quarter of 2025. When both units are put into operation, the plant will provide about 7.8 billion kWh/year to the national grid and contribute significantly to the local budget revenue".
Along with the Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Plant, in the past term, Ha Tinh Industry has made significant breakthroughs in development. With an average growth rate of nearly 7%/year. The processing and manufacturing industry accounts for a high proportion in the internal structure of the industry. Key industrial products such as electricity, steel, and beer make important contributions to the economy, accounting for 25% of GRDP... Many large-scale projects have been approved for investment, accelerating construction progress to put into operation, creating momentum for the key sectors of the economy.
Typically: VinES Battery Factory will be put into operation from July 2023, VinES-Gotion Lithium Battery Joint Venture Factory will start production from the beginning of 2025; Gia Lach Industrial Park (IP) Infrastructure Investment and Construction and Business Project is implementing site clearance work; Vinhomes Vung Ang Industrial Park Infrastructure Investment and Construction Project has started construction; Bac Thach Ha Industrial Park Infrastructure Investment and Construction Project is under construction; HBRE Ha Tinh Wind Farm project is being implemented...
Notably, in less than 7 months of construction, the VinFast Electric Car Factory, the most modern in the region, was completed and put into operation from the end of June 2025.
In addition, activities in industrial clusters (ICs) in recent years have also been quite vibrant, contributing positively to the development of the industry. Currently, there are 23 ICs established in the province, with a total area of over 600 hectares, of which 19 ICs have come into operation. The ICs have attracted 351 production and business establishments to register in the cluster, of which 274 projects have come into operation, achieving an average occupancy rate of 58%, production value of about 4,500 billion VND/year and creating jobs for more than 9,000 workers.
Not only growing in index and diversifying products, the industry in the 2021-2025 period also follows the trend of developing green industry, high-tech and modern industry, in line with the green and sustainable growth orientation in the spirit of the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress and the Provincial Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
Song La Xanh Packaging Joint Stock Company has invested in many modern machines and equipment, expanding the scale of production and business development.
In the 2025-2030 term, the industry sector continues to be identified as the pillar of the economy, with the goal of industry - construction accounting for 51% of GRDP and the proportion of added value of the processing - manufacturing industry reaching 29% by 2030. Accordingly, Ha Tinh orients industrial development in depth and modernity; the focus is on promoting the development of industries with high technology content, high added value and strong spillover.
Currently, a number of large industrial projects are being implemented and promoted such as: Stainless Steel and High Quality Steel Factory; Vung Ang LNG Gas Warehouse; Vung Ang 3 LNG Power Plant, renewable energy projects... These are projects expected to create a new "boost" for the industry in the coming years.
In the 2025-2030 term, the industry continues to be identified as a pillar of economic growth with an orientation towards in-depth, modern, green and sustainable development.
Sharing about the development orientation of the industry in the coming term, Mr. Le Trung Phuoc - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said: "Restructure the industry strongly, develop in depth, modernize; promote the development of steel, electric car, high-tech, green technology and post-steel industries; deploy key energy projects such as gas power, wind power, solar power, waste-to-energy, hydropower, LNG gas storage... according to Power Plan VIII. At the same time, continue to quickly deploy the expansion of Vung Ang Economic Zone, re-plan Cau Treo International Border Gate Economic Zone, complete the infrastructure of industrial zones and clusters to prepare the ground to attract investment".
With a solid foundation built in the 2020-2025 period, along with a development strategy planned for the new term, Ha Tinh is facing a great opportunity to make a breakthrough, becoming a bright spot on the country's industrial map. The synchronization between modern industrial development, green industry with infrastructure completion and improvement of the investment and business environment will be key factors to help Ha Tinh realize its sustainable development goals in the coming years.
