Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City requested heads of units to continue implementing the contents of Official Dispatch No. 1383/2025 on preventing and stopping criminals from taking advantage of cyberspace to defraud students and Official Dispatch No. 2609 on strengthening child protection in the online environment.

Educational institutions are required to closely coordinate with local police agencies to propagate and raise awareness among students about the dangers, tricks and risks of cybercrime; at the same time, equip them with skills to recognize and handle situations when encountering fraudulent and threatening behavior in cyberspace.
The Department of Education and Training also requested schools to coordinate in preventing harmful information that affects students according to the law on network information security; encourage teachers and students to actively participate in experiential activities and simulate situations to improve their ability to respond to cybercrime within the framework of the campaign organized by the police sector.
Previously, the Ministry of Education and Training issued a warning about the "online kidnapping" trick when some criminal groups took advantage of cyberspace to fake kidnappings of students, forcing families to transfer ransom money. The Ministry requested to strengthen coordination between schools, families and authorities, regularly exchange information to promptly detect and prevent cases of students being absent unexpectedly or showing signs of being exploited, threatened or having their property seized.
Recently, local police have been handling many cases related to the “online kidnapping” method. Notably, in Lam Dong, the authorities promptly rescued three students who were threatened by scammers and asked their families to transfer ransom money online.
