In the past, Vinh city had about 50,000 trees of all kinds, of which nearly half were old trees with wide canopies and dense foliage. These rows of trees were the highlight of the urban landscape, contributing to air conditioning, creating shade and being environmentally friendly.

However, when the rainy and stormy season comes, they pose a potential risk of being unsafe due to falling, uprooting, causing property damage, and even threatening people's lives. Faced with this reality, functional units and wards and communes are simultaneously implementing tree pruning and treatment to proactively respond to storm No. 3.

According to records, workers of Vinh Green Park Joint Stock Company have divided into many groups, implementing pruning on key streets such as Le Mao, Tran Phu, Nguyen Du, Truong Thi, Truong Chinh, Phong Dinh Cang, Nguyen Viet Xuan... as well as in parks, squares, and densely populated areas. Locations where trees have fallen during previous storms have also been carefully inspected to completely handle potential risks. Priority for pruning is given to trees with large canopies, skewed canopies, leaning trunks, or many dry, rotten branches, characteristics that can easily cause trees to be uprooted or broken when exposed to strong winds.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung - Deputy Director of Vinh Green Park Joint Stock Company said: "In response to information about storm No. 3, we have mobilized all forces, equipment and machinery to urgently and centrally carry out tree pruning. This work not only reduces the risk of falling trees, but also contributes to ensuring absolute safety for people and urban traffic in adverse weather conditions."

In fact, the risk of unsafe trees is no longer a prediction. During the storm that occurred on July 19 in Nghe An , many trees were broken, killing one person and injuring several others. This heartbreaking incident shows the urgency of proactively checking, handling and trimming trees on the streets, especially in crowded places.

According to Vinh Green Park Joint Stock Company, about 2,000 trees will be restored, cleared and disposed of during this period. Along with the pruning, the authorities also applied measures to reinforce and support the trees with wooden stakes and metal bars in many windy areas to increase the stability of the trees and minimize the risk of being uprooted in the upcoming storms. The construction units also organized the collection of branches and leaves after pruning, ensuring that they do not affect the aesthetics and urban traffic.
