On the morning of February 21 (January 12, the year of the Dragon), Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province held a traditional swimming festival on Diem Ho river.
According to Giao Thong Newspaper reporters, from early morning, many people and tourists were present on both sides of Diem Ho River waiting to watch the traditional swimming festival.

The organizing committee of the traditional swimming festival of Diem Dien town said that this year's festival has 120 athletes from 8 swimming groups of residential groups of Diem Dien town and Thai Thuong commune.
On each rowing mat there are 15 paddlers, one person steering and one person calling the rhythm, all paddlers are healthy and have good technique.
Thousands of people showed up to cheer on the swimming festival.
According to the competition rules, the racing teams compete on the Diem Ho River, the section adjacent to the Diem Dien estuary, in 3.5 laps with a total length of over 4km.
At exactly 9:05, after the signal from the organizing committee, the swimmers started, focusing their efforts on the open sea.

The festival took place in a lively and jubilant atmosphere with the cheers and encouragement of a large number of people and tourists from all over.
At the end of the competition, the organizing committee awarded first prize to swimming group No. 4, second prize to swimming group Mai Diem, third prize to swimming group Thai Thuong. The remaining swimming groups received consolation prizes.

The organizers said the traditional swimming festival on the Diem Ho River is a cultural beauty of the coastal people, commemorating the great contributions of the sages and generations of ancestors who fought against foreign invaders and conquered the sea.

This is also the New Year's launching ceremony of all cadres, people, economic sectors, especially the two sectors of exploitation and maritime transport of Thai Thuy district, with the wish for a year of favorable weather, good luck for fishermen at sea, and successful aquaculture and fishing.
