Evaluating more than 270 applications from 65 countries around the world , the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) honored Lo Lo Chai (Lung Cu commune, Tuyen Quang province) as one of the "Best Tourism Villages in the world in 2025".
The “World's Best Tourist Village” award, initiated by UN Tourism, is a global initiative to honor rural destinations with outstanding achievements in preserving culture and nature, developing sustainable tourism and improving community livelihoods.

The title is selected based on a strict system of criteria on governance, creativity, sustainability, environment and contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), becoming an international standard for high-quality community tourism models.
Thus, up to now, there are 5 Vietnamese villages honored by UN Tourism as "The Best Tourist Village in the World" from 2022 to 2025. These include Thai Hai village (Thai Nguyen), Tan Hoa village (Quang Tri), Tra Que vegetable village ( Da Nang ), Lo Lo Chai village (Tuyen Quang) and Quynh Son village (Lang Son).
Nestled next to Lung Cu flagpole at the foot of Dragon Mountain, Lo Lo Chai is known as a "fairy tale village" because of its rustic, poetic beauty with stone fences typical of the rocky plateau.
As the land at the headland of the Fatherland, Lo Lo Chai has become a bright spot in community tourism development, bringing sustainable income, helping people change their lives.
Recognized as a Cultural Tourism Village since 2022, Lo Lo Chai now has more facilities to serve tourists while still maintaining its rustic landscape.
Currently, the village has a total of 51 homestay businesses, 2 restaurants, 5 snack and souvenir shops. Room rates here range from 500,000 VND to 1.2 million VND/room. Guests are often crowded on weekends and holidays. On weekdays, the number of guests staying is about a few hundred.

In recent years, Lo Lo Chai has become a community tourism destination, developing in a green and sustainable direction. The locality has focused on improving infrastructure associated with environmental protection, planning a waste collection and treatment system, limiting the use of disposable plastic products, increasing green space, improving clean water sources and standard toilets to serve tourists.
The houses here still retain the Lo Lo people's architecture with earthen walls on three sides. The gates and fences are made of hand-laid stones. In order to be suitable for tourism and attract visitors, the households also renovated and added private toilets, convenient for guests to eat, stay and live, without affecting the exterior and overall architecture.
Along with that is the preservation of traditional landscape and architecture, the use of natural, environmentally friendly materials, combined with appropriate control of the number of visitors to ensure ecological balance.
Local people are empowered through training programs in reception skills, service management, food safety and hygiene, fire prevention and fighting, environmental protection and civilized tourism behavior.
Local livelihood development is promoted through homestay models, indigenous cuisine, traditional crafts, agricultural cultural experiences, ensuring equitable benefit sharing, creating stable jobs, and encouraging the participation of women and youth.
Up to now, communication and promotion work has been widely deployed through publications, digital platforms and tour connection programs, contributing to spreading the image of Lo Lo Chai as a green, safe, friendly and sustainable cultural destination in the international tourism market.
According to a representative of the Tuyen Quang Department of Tourism, the fact that Lo Lo Chai village was honored by UN Tourism has important significance, contributing to marking Tuyen Quang tourism on the world map.
