The men’s 5,000m final on the morning of August 10 had 26 athletes competing. But among them, only Nguyen Trung Cuong was outstanding. After the first rounds of chasing each other, the athletes of Ha Tinh gradually pulled away.

He was the first to cross the finish line with a time of 14 minutes 43 seconds 7. This was also Nguyen Trung Cuong's second gold medal. The day before, he also easily won the 3,000m steeplechase.

Sharing after completing the 5,000m distance, he said: "I am satisfied with the two gold medals in the last two days of competition. The weather was hot and the field was windy, but I still achieved my goal. Due to the weather and unfavorable field conditions, I only achieved the goal of winning the gold medal, and keeping my legs and physical strength at their best for SEA Games 33."

The runner-up in this distance was Le Tien Long, also a runner from Ha Tinh. He finished the distance with a time of 14 minutes 45 seconds 7, 2 seconds behind Trung Cuong. The bronze medalist was Mai Quy Phong ( Quang Tri ) with a time of 14 minutes 48 seconds 5.

Also on the morning of August 10, the National Athletics Championship also held the final of the women's 4x100m relay. The Army unit with veteran athletes Nguyen Thi Hong Van, Hoang Du Y, Quach Thi Hong Thuy and Bui Thi Nguyen excellently brought home the gold medal with a time of 45.7 seconds.

Hanoi came in second (45 seconds 23), and Ho Chi Minh City came in third (45 seconds 28). In the afternoon, the tournament will continue with the finals of exciting events such as the men's 110m hurdles, women's 100m hurdles, men's 4x400m relay, women's 4x400m relay, men's 4x100m relay...
