Journalist Le Xuan Son: A person with little talent who devotes himself to literature will eventually become physically and mentally ruined.

Journalist Le Xuan Son confided that he once wrote a number of poems and short stories for publication in newspapers. But after that, he did not dare to write anymore, because he knew that his talent was low and that if he embarked on that path, he would eventually become physically and mentally ruined.

Yet author Le Xuan Son has just released three books of poetry, memoirs, and reports at the same time, surprising many writers, poets, and journalists because of the literary quality imbued in them.

The three books were published by the Writers Association Publishing House. The launching ceremony was held by the author on October 9 in Hanoi with the participation of many journalists and writers in Hanoi.

Le Xuan Son 'I have been a city person for a long time'

As a manager at a newspaper for many years, journalist Le Xuan Son has not stopped writing, especially memoirs, reports, literary notes, and poetry.

Thanks to that, he accumulated a considerable amount of works that could be compiled into books, read over and over again without getting old. He compiled them into books, printed the first three volumes and is still working on the other three volumes.

At the book launch, author Le Xuan Son said that the simultaneous release of three works was not planned in advance. When he retired, he planned to compile a book with his journalistic works that could stand the test of time. However, he was surprised that the articles collected together had enough space for six books.

Poetry Collection I've Been a City Person for a Long Time Taken from the name of a poem that Le Xuan Son liked. The book includes 49 poems, 100 pages with illustrated appendices.

The author said the title of the poem is a line from his favorite Russian song called Russian Fields.

According to the publisher's introduction, the important part of the poetry collection is the nostalgia of a rural person who has been away from his roots for a long time.

Besides, there are poems inspired by contemporary issues such as the sea and islands of the Fatherland, the living environment, and epidemics... The topics are quite diverse, from love between men and women, homeland, country, to family, thoughts and worries about the changes that fundamentally change life today.

The author uses many poetic forms, from free verse to 5-word and 7-word verse, and a significant number of poems use the six-eight form. White Clouds Still Floating is a collection of poems. memoir, literary portrait, 265 pages.

The book contains memoirs and portraits of more than 20 writers, poets, painters, musicians, etc., from Trinh Cong Son, Phu Quang, Quang Dung, Huu Loan, Duong Bich Lien, To Ngoc Van, Diem Phung Thi, Le Ba Dang, To Hoai, To Huu, etc. to Ho Xuan Huong and Dang Tran Con.

The author especially likes two memoirs about poet Huu Loan and writer To Hoai.

Like the Water of the River of Me is a collection of notes rich in literature and documents about 11 of the countries that the author has had the opportunity to visit, spanning the continents of Asia, Europe, and America. The author focuses on the depth of culture, history of the countries and their relationships with our country, especially their affections.

Surprised by the poetry of the person who 'eats on time and sleeps properly'

Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association Nguyen Quang Thieu acknowledged that the qualities of a journalist gave Le Xuan Son the ability to discover and select details of life to bring into his works what is most necessary.

Mr. Thieu was also very impressed with the poetry in the writings of journalist Le Xuan Son.

Poet Hong Thanh Quang was impressed by the sentiment of his colleague Le Xuan Son, "I have long been a city person." He said that people who live in the city but still listen to the train whistle at their hometown station have kept their roots. People with roots have deep and thick writing.

Writer Pham Ngoc Tien, a close friend of Le Xuan Son for more than 40 years, said he used to think that if his younger brother did not eat on time, sleep properly, and drink alcohol, he would not know how to write poetry or prose.

Yet today he was able to see a whole collection of poems and two volumes of literary essays by his younger brother who had lived with him and his wife for four years when he had just returned from studying in the Soviet Union.

Mr. Tien also greatly respects Le Xuan Son for choosing to publish books after retirement rather than while still in office.
