(CLO) In these busy last days of the year, the 2024 "Press Moments" Photo Award Ceremony taking place on December 6 is a much-awaited "career appointment"... In 2024, the "Press Moments" Photo Award organized by the Journalist and Public Opinion Newspaper under the direction of the Vietnam Journalists Association has entered its 6th season. Before the Award Ceremony, journalist Tran Lan Anh - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journalist and Public Opinion Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Award had a conversation about this year's event.

Every moment contains a journey of commitment and dedication to life.

+ Madam, as scheduled, the Press Moments Photo Award organized by the Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper is highly anticipated to honor outstanding press photography works… This year, in the 6th season, what attracts the public, Madam?

- Actually, the biggest attraction that we want to "show off" is that the quality of this year's award-winning photos is really more outstanding than last year's. Right from the beginning of receiving products sent from all over the country, the Organizing Committee has seen the serious investment, meticulousness, creativity, not afraid of hardships, dedication on all working paths... of photojournalists. As expected, the responsible and prestigious judges all affirmed that this year the number of photos is twice as large, showing the country's current issues, many major events that have never appeared and have been exploited by the press.

Along with quantity, this year's quality has its own highlights, many hot issues, such as floods, storms, landslides, the State funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; the implementation of major projects... the country's key issues are all reflected. We feel very clearly, in each of those precious moments contains the journey of dedication, throwing oneself into life so that every breath of the times is captured by the lens of today's photojournalist.

+ Of course, having good products is partly because the reporter has dedicated himself and lived in the flow of the event last year, and the Organizing Committee "having" such good products to honor also requires a lot of effort in the organization, journalist?

- That's right. "You have to put in the flour to make the paste", you have to work hard to get results. Last year was a year with so many big events in the country, but if there weren't photojournalists who dared to take the plunge and throw themselves into the events... then many precious moments would have passed by... What we are happy about is that journalists and photojournalists have chosen to participate in the contest of the Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper, many "photographers" who have become familiar with each other, many new reporters trying their hand for the first time... all gathered, bringing rich and diverse works, reflecting almost all the typical and important events of the country...

Perhaps, the Photo Award of the Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper is not a big Award, but with the continuous efforts in the journey to implement the principles and purposes of the newspaper of the press community nationwide, we are always persistent, responsible and gradually have appropriate innovations. The advantage of being the mouthpiece of the Vietnam Journalists Association, also a newspaper that is always ready to join with press agencies nationwide, so the Award, right from its launch, has spread widely in the press community, colleagues responded and participated in large numbers...

In addition, the Organizing Committee has constantly innovated and improved the quality of the Award as well as maintained the prize structure with great value despite many difficulties and challenges. We, the Organizing Committee, are extremely pleased to receive the active participation of reporters and journalists from central and local press agencies across the country. The number of participating photos this year is double that of last year with nearly 400 works including single photos and photo series with the number of up to thousands of photos... is proof that the "Press Moments" photo award has truly become a prestigious and attractive "career meeting place" for photojournalists across the country.

The urge of emotion awakens creativity

+ It is known that this year our Award Ceremony will also include special musical performances and a very touching theme: "From heart to heart"... What message does the organizers want to convey from the program, Madam?

- The idea of ​​music actually comes from the emotions that the photos bring. When looking at the photos of the authors, we feel like we are "reliving" a journey of the past year at each "hot spot", each event, everything seems to come back, as if it were just new... And the urge of emotions seems to awaken the creativity for us to build a unique musical space with the theme "From heart to heart".

This art program will be skillfully combined with contemporary dance, modern dance and the song "The Storm" to portray a profound portrait of a journalist "Dedication - Responsibility - Courage - Creativity" with a heart full of emotions. Each journalistic work is created not only from sharp observations but also from sincere vibrations of the heart, with positive emotions and deep empathy. As Henry Luce, a famous journalist and editor, founder of two leading American magazines Time and Life once shared: "I became a journalist to get closer to the heart of humanity."... then our "journalistic moment" also wants to "light up" that emotion for colleagues.

+ The 2024 season has ended, the 2025 “Press Moment” season is coming. What does the public expect from “Moment” season 7, Madam?

- Every time we finish a successful event, every time we prepare to embark on a new journey, we always remind each other: “today must be better than yesterday”. We come to the moment of the 6th season of journalism with confidence and will certainly welcome the 7th season with excitement… The Journalist and Public Opinion Newspaper is proud to honor its beloved colleagues after a year full of hardship and hopes that they will continue to innovate, continue to be creative, with a spirit of dedication and contribution, with their pens and lenses, spreading positive energy in society, fostering people's trust in the leadership of the Party; strengthening trust in the good qualities, good traditions of the nation as well as the bright future we are aiming for.

And maybe the stage halo of the “journalistic moment” will pass, but the core value of each photo will still remain as humanistic value, as an inspirational story, so that each photo is worth more than a thousand words…
