Many Southern universities announce 2026 enrollment methods

Up to now, 4 universities have "revealed" their admission methods for 2026, including Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, and Hung Vuong University.

Maintain stability, open new industries

According to the reporter's records, the 2026 enrollment period of Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City, University of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, and Hung Vuong University will still maintain the same admission methods applied in 2025, to create consistency and reduce pressure on candidates.

Specifically, Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City maintains 4 methods, including: Direct admission and priority admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training ; Admission based on the combination of academic results and high school achievements; Admission based on the results of the V-SAT computer-based university entrance exam in 2026; Admission method based on the results of the high school graduation exam in 2026.

Not only maintaining the method, Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City also expands study opportunities with 3 new training majors, including: Chinese Language, Insurance, Hotel Management - Restaurant & Food Service.

Similarly, Hung Vuong University in Ho Chi Minh City plans to open many new majors in 2026, including Artificial Intelligence, Nursing and Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering Technology. The addition of these majors demonstrates the university’s orientation in leading the trend of modern technology and medical human resources.

Regarding admission methods, in 2025, the school will apply three main forms including: Considering high school graduation exam scores according to subject groups; Considering 12th grade transcripts; Considering competency assessment exam scores organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University.

Meanwhile, in 2026, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade plans to continue applying 5 admission methods as in the 2025 admission period.

Specific methods include: Considering high school graduation exam results; Considering high school study results; Considering the results of the competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University; Direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; Considering the results of the specialized competency assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, combined with high school study results according to the corresponding subject group (for majors that require aptitude subjects or specialized subjects).

Notably, the new point in the 2026 enrollment plan of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade is the special support policy for direct admission candidates.

Candidates admitted directly will be exempted from 100% of tuition fees for the entire course and will receive a monthly living allowance of 3 million VND during the entire study period. This preferential policy is expected to encourage excellent students with outstanding achievements to choose domestic schools instead of studying abroad, thereby attracting talent and improving the quality of input for the school.

Innovation in admission methods

While many schools still maintain parallel methods, Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) said that from the 2026 admission season, there will be major changes.

Accordingly, in addition to the direct admission method as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training, the school plans to use only one method, which is the comprehensive admission method. This means that IUH will integrate previously separated admission criteria into a common scoring system.

The school’s comprehensive admission method includes many components: high school graduation exam scores, competency assessment exam scores, high school academic results and other outstanding achievements of the candidates. These factors will be converted to a common scale with appropriate weights for each component, instead of considering each area independently as before.

In fact, the comprehensive admission model has been applied by the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) for many years, showing the trend that schools are gradually shifting to more flexible and diverse ways of assessing learners' abilities.

The switch to a comprehensive admission method of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry is considered an innovative step to enhance objectivity and transparency in admission.

However, the school also noted that it will monitor the official regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training to adjust the enrollment plan accordingly before announcing details to candidates.
