SEA Games 33 men's football draw: U22 Vietnam falls into a heavier group than Thailand, waiting for the big battle with Malaysia

Vietnam U23 team aims for SEA Games 33 (Thailand) with the goal of winning gold medal.

The draw for the men's football event of the 33rd SEA Games took place at Divalux Resort & Spa Bangkok Suvarnabhumi at 10:45 on October 19. However, due to various reasons, it was postponed and started at 12:00, instead of 10:45 as originally planned.

According to the seed grouping results, U22 Vietnam is in seed group 1 with U22 Thailand and defending champion U22 Indonesia.

As a result, host U22 Thailand is in Group A with Cambodia and Timor Leste. Group C includes Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore. Meanwhile, U22 Vietnam is in Group B with Malaysia and Laos. So compared to defending champion U22 Indonesia and host U22 Thailand, U22 Vietnam is in a tougher group.

In women's football, the Vietnamese women's team is in Group B with Myanmar, the Philippines, and Malaysia. Group A includes host Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, and Indonesia.

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has created the best conditions for coach Kim Sang-sik to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games with the goal of winning the highest position. The core force participating in the 33rd SEA Games this year has experienced a series of major tournaments such as the 2025 Southeast Asian Championship, the 2026 Asian U23 Qualifiers and recently trained in the UAE.
