The organizing committee of the Sacred Art Show, including crews from Hanoi and Lao Cai, held a press conference to share information about this passionate show on the afternoon of September 23 in Hanoi.
Honoring the sacredness in Red Dao culture
Director Dang Xuan Truong adapted the program from a literary script by Mr. Ha Van Thang - former director of Lao Cai Department of Tourism .
Thieng is a large-scale song - dance - music - visual performance art project, inspired by the cultural treasure of the Dao community in Sa Pa. The work depicts the connection between earth - water - fire - love - belief, while honoring the sacredness of traditional rituals, especially the coming-of-age ceremony, a symbol of maturity and the Dao people's philosophy of life.
With a duration of about 65 minutes, using the art of singing, dancing, and synthesizing music, focusing on traditional folk dance and performance rituals, combining visual arts, lighting, stage effects, and 3D mapping projection, Thieng creates a magical space rich in symbolism.

Storytelling Show in Sa Pa
During many years of working in the Lao Cai culture and tourism industry, scriptwriter Ha Van Thang and director Dang Xuan Truong shared the same idea that the show would first open up confidence and pride for the Red Dao people.
This is an opportunity for the Dao people themselves to directly participate, telling their own ethnic story through artistic language.
Therefore, the two artists brought the local Red Dao people onto the big stage in traditional costumes that they themselves prepared with the artisans, to practice their rituals and beliefs.
Artist Xuan Truong said a special feature of this show is the participation of mainly local people, including artisans and ethnic people in Sa Pa, Lao Cai (80 people out of a total of 102 actors).
Thieng is scheduled to perform for three nights on November 7, 14 and 15 at Quan Stadium, Sa Pa, Lao Cai. The play will be presented in two languages (Vietnamese - Dao, Vietnamese - English) to expand access to domestic and foreign tourists.
The program is expected to become a unique cultural and tourist highlight of Sa Pa, Lao Cai, contributing to promoting the image of Vietnam to international friends.
