Previously, the Taiwanese actress shared that it was Hou Hsiao-Hsien who encouraged her to become a director, and then continuously urged Shu Qi to carry out her projects. By participating in the male director's films, Shu Qi also became famous globally, appearing continuously at major international film festivals.

In her speech, she also expressed her gratitude to the film's investors, emphasizing that they wholeheartedly supported the project despite knowing it was an art film. Finally, she emotionally said: "All the girls who have been hurt can step into their own bright future."

Girl is a coming-of-age drama about an introverted young woman trying to overcome her traumatic past growing up in a family where she and her mother were victims of domestic violence at the hands of her father. Her life begins to change when she meets another girl her own age, whose lively and carefree spirit inspires her.
