Sa Pa is among the most attractive mountain destinations in Asia.

With the majestic Hoang Lien Son landscape, vast terraced fields and unique indigenous culture, Sa Pa is ranked by Agoda as one of the most worth-experiencing mountain destinations in Asia.

Digital travel platform Agoda has just announced a list of Asia's most popular mountain and small town destinations in 2025. In this ranking, Sa Pa town (old) - Lao Cai, Vietnam ranked 6th, affirming its growing appeal on the regional tourism map.

The data was compiled from the number of accommodation searches by tourists in towns with populations under 50,000, between February 15 and August 15, 2025, across eight Asian markets. The top three spots were taken by Cameron Highlands (Malaysia), Khao Yai (Thailand) and Puncak (Indonesia). They were followed by Fujikawaguchiko (Japan), Kenting (Taiwan), before Sa Pa in Vietnam rounded out the top six.

A mountainous town famous for its terraced fields and ethnic minority villages, Sa Pa captivates visitors with the breathtaking natural beauty of the Hoang Lien Son range, home to the 3,143 m high Fansipan peak - dubbed the "roof of Indochina". Not only does it have magnificent scenery, Sa Pa is also attractive for its unique indigenous cultural life, from highland markets to unique traditional customs.

Data on this platform shows that the number of searches related to Sa Pa increased by 21% in the first half of 2025, demonstrating the growing interest of both domestic and international tourists. In addition to the attraction of the landscape, Sa Pa offers a different experience through four seasons: spring with peach and plum blossoms in full bloom, summer with green young rice, autumn with golden ripe rice, and winter with many years of snow covering the town.

In addition to Sa Pa, Asia also has many other famous towns and mountain areas on the list, such as Munnar (India) or Pyeongchang-gun (South Korea). This shows that the trend of natural tourism, finding quiet spaces and connecting with local culture is becoming more and more popular.

In the context of Vietnamese tourism continuously recording new records in the number of international visitors, Sa Pa being honored at the continental level further strengthens the image of a safe, friendly and unique destination.
