Joy with new book pages
On the winding road leading to Ban Xeo commune, the bus full of books of the Beloved Highlands Club rolled again. Overcoming the bumpy road, the members brought to the teachers and students of Muong Vi Secondary School a special gift: a bookcase with more than 400 books and stories. The books not only help the children entertain but also broaden their horizons of knowledge, sowing the passion for reading. As for the members of the Beloved Highlands Club, the priceless reward is the image of eager eyes, attentive faces, and joy as they turn the colorful pages of the book.

"This year our school has a new bookshelf. We are very happy to read new books and stories, which help us improve our knowledge and entertain ourselves after each class. The bookshelf is located near the stairs, so we can take it out to read at any time. We will take good care of the bookshelf together" - Dong Thuy Tram - a 9th grade student at Muong Vi Secondary School shared.

Sharing about the practical value of the bookcase, Mr. Vu Van Thanh - Principal of Muong Vi Secondary School, Ban Xeo Commune affirmed: With the characteristics of a highland school with a large ethnic minority population, training life skills, self-study, especially reading habits is very necessary. The timely support of the Loving Highlands Club is truly meaningful, helping students practice self-study ability, build reading habits...
Sowing the seeds of love and knowledge
The Loving Highlands Club was founded in August 2018 by Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, former Vice Principal of Le Hong Phong High School. True to its name, the Club brings love, care, and sharing to students in the highlands through practical actions.

Sharing about the motivation for its establishment, Ms. Hong confided: As a teacher with many years of experience, I understand that reading is the most important skill in education . I have traveled to many places and found that boarding and semi-boarding students in mountainous areas have a lot of time at school but lack books to read. Wishing to create a habit and conditions for students to be able to read books from the first days of school, I was determined to establish the Club to build a bookshelf for them.

Initially with only a few key members, the Club now has dozens of members, including businessmen, teachers, civil servants, public employees and students from many provinces and cities, especially in the capital Hanoi , joining hands and contributing. Although each person has a job, they all share the same enthusiasm in bringing books, building bookcases, and bringing reading culture to students in the highlands. For the Club members, the most valuable reward is not numbers or words of gratitude, but the eager eyes and radiant faces of students as they passionately turn the colorful pages of books.

Student Truong Ngoc Anh - class 12 Physics, Lao Cai High School for the Gifted - a member of the Club, shared: I joined because I want to bring love and spread reading culture to everyone, especially children in remote areas with difficulties to have the opportunity to access new, interesting and meaningful books. At the Club, I directly mobilize, donate and participate in classifying books and then, together with the teachers and uncles, hand over the bookcases to schools. I feel very happy to be able to help, share, contribute a small part of my effort and see the children happy and excited with the books.
Community Connection
During its operation, the Club has always maintained the principle of absolute transparency: all activities from receiving support, to donating and arranging books in the bookshelf are publicly updated on social networks. Thanks to this prestige and dedication, the Club has received widespread support from the community at home and abroad. In particular, the Club sets the criteria for donating books, giving priority to disadvantaged schools, schools with many ethnic minority students, schools with boarding and semi-boarding students. The donated books focus on literature, life skills education books, fun science, history books... to enrich the souls and enhance the Vietnamese language skills of the children.

Up to now, the Loving Highlands Club has built nearly 100 bookcases for highland schools in communes such as Y Ty, Bac Ha, Si Ma Cai, Muong Khuong, Cao Son, Nghia Do, Hop Thanh, Coc San, Ta Cu Ty... The Club's activities do not stop at donating, but also regularly organize exchanges, instruct students on reading skills, preserving and using bookcases effectively.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, Club President, added: In the coming time, we will continue to build bookcases and guide students to preserve and maintain them. In addition, the Club will organize a program to support equipment, learning and living supplies for students. We hope that together with the school and society, we will create the best conditions for students in disadvantaged areas to access and improve their knowledge.

In the difficult life conditions, with its humane and meaningful activities, the Loving Highlands Club has brought joy and valuable knowledge through books to students in the highlands of Lao Cai. The good books and useful knowledge that the Club brings will become great friends, accompanying the children on their journey to adulthood, helping them understand and appreciate more the moral values, the values of life and culture from an early age.
