In 2020, Mr. Tran Van Manh (Yen Son village, Quang Tan commune) was supported by the Farmers' Association of the old Dam Ha district with a loan of 100 million VND to invest in raising 2,000 commercial chickens. After a period of care, the flock of chickens gradually increased by season and yielded 15 tons/year. However, from 2023, consumption decreased, Mr. Manh proactively learned from experience, innovated products by switching to raising herbal chickens, creating delicious and unique meat flavor.
In joy, Mr. Manh added: “In addition to the loan from the Farmers' Support Fund, I received support from the Commune Farmers' Association to introduce and learn the herbal chicken farming model in many localities, my chickens are consumed more conveniently. In addition, I actively promote products on social networks such as Zalo and Facebook to expand output. Up to now, my family has an income of 200-300 million VND/year.”
The shrimp farming model of Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh, Dong Mai ward, previously invested in extensive farming, but due to the increasingly narrowing area and many shrimp crops failing due to erratic weather, Mr. Thanh switched to raising white-leg shrimp according to VietGAP standards. With this farming method, not only does it save about 30% of the area compared to extensive farming, but it also increases output. Each year, his family harvests about 30 tons of shrimp, with a revenue of nearly 4.5 billion VND. "According to VietGAP standards, shrimp raised in greenhouses are always clean, ensuring safety, no pollution; disease control is easier. Each year, my family raises 3 crops, costs are reduced, the selling price is higher than that of conventionally raised shrimp, so the profit is higher" - Mr. Thanh shared.
In fact, in the past, Dong Mai ward had hundreds of hectares of aquaculture using traditional extensive farming methods. When the province and local authorities reclaimed land to serve large projects, people proactively switched to high-tech shrimp farming, helping to save costs, increase productivity and bring about outstanding economic efficiency.
Currently, in the digital transformation period, with the support of the province and the Farmers' Association, many members have applied modern science and technology, shifting from traditional agriculture to high-tech agriculture, helping to increase productivity, reduce risks, and effectively control diseases. Along with that, farmers in the province have promoted the consumption of products through e-commerce platforms, especially OCOP products associated with the application of information technology in production and business. To date, Quang Ninh has 432 OCOP products of 235 units put on e-commerce platforms, many products have reached the export market, affirming the key role of technology in the development of modern agriculture.

In recent times, to support farmers in applying science and technology, digital transformation in production, processing and product consumption to increase income, Farmers' Associations at all levels have promoted the assistance of farmers in quickly accessing the achievements of modern technology, promoting production according to the value chain and domestic and international market standards. In the first 9 months of 2025, the Provincial Farmers' Association organized over 50 conferences, training courses, transferring, introducing and applying science and technology, digital transformation for over 3,000 members and farmers in the fields of cultivation, animal husbandry, application of IT to trace the origin using QR codes, application of AI intelligence in agricultural production and product consumption; supported nearly 5,000 members to install and use the "Vietnamese Farmers" app, bringing the total number of farmers in the province to 45,400 who have installed and used the app. Nearly 3,000 farmer members have accounts on e-commerce platforms.
Ms. Le Phuong Thao, Vice President of the Provincial Farmers' Association, said: The Association continues to promote training and transfer of science and technology in agricultural, forestry and fishery production; strengthen propaganda on digital transformation, raise awareness for officials and members about digital government, digital economy and digital society. At the same time, guide members to register for electronic payment accounts, put quality products on e-commerce platforms to expand consumption, promote production and economic development. Thereby, contributing to improving the lives and incomes of members and farmers.
