Developing commercial rabbitfish farming areas associated with the brand "Tam Giang Rabbitfish"

HNN.VN - On the afternoon of October 15, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) organized a specialized S&T Council to evaluate and accept the results of the implementation of the city-level S&T project: "Developing commercial rabbitfish farming areas according to the value chain associated with building the "Tam Giang Rabbitfish" brand in Thua Thien Hue province (now Hue city)", chaired by the Hue City Agricultural Extension Center.

The assigned project aims to complete the process of rearing and commercial farming of silver pomfret; successfully build a 6,000 m2 scale rearing model and a 2 ha scale commercial farming model; establish a dossier to register the collective trademark "Tam Giang silver pomfret"; successfully build a model of organization, management, development and exploitation of the collective trademark "Tam Giang silver pomfret" in practice.

The project has built a model for rearing and raising commercial rabbitfish at 1 household and 1 company in Phu Vang commune. The results of the implementation of the rabbitfish rearing model, the achieved targets exceeded the requirements of the model. The results of the implementation of the commercial rabbitfish farming model, the achieved targets all exceeded the requirements of the project. In which, the survival rate reached 60.5%, the average weight reached 209 g/fish, the average output per household reached 3,788.3 kg, the feed conversion ratio FCR was 1.42, the average output reached 3.79 tons/ha.

The Council for evaluation and acceptance of the results of the implementation of the science and technology project agreed on the contents meeting the requirements.

After 22 months of implementation, the project team has conducted a survey and collected data on the situation of raising and consuming silver pomfret products in Hue city. Successfully built 2 models of silver pomfret rearing and commercial silver pomfret farming. Completed 2 technological processes: Silver pomfret rearing techniques and commercial silver pomfret farming techniques. Organized 2 training courses to disseminate silver pomfret rearing and commercial silver pomfret farming techniques. Registered the collective trademark (NHTT) "Tam Giang - Hue silver pomfret - lagoon specialty, image" and was granted a Certificate by the Department of Intellectual Property. The project has also successfully built a pilot model of NHTT management activities, granted NHTT usage rights to 34 participating households/units; built a traceability system according to the value chain for products.
