Once upon a time there was a love story adapted from the novel of the same name by writer Nguyen Nhat Anh, revolving around the love triangle of close friends Vinh (Avin Lu), Mien (Ngoc Xuan), Phuc (Do Nhat Hoang).

Director Trinh Dinh Le Minh said the theme of unrequited love is familiar to audiences and has similarities with Blue Eyes , however the crew still chose the novel Once Upon a Time There Was a Love Story to adapt to the big screen.

The work also has cinematic storytelling to differ from Nguyen Nhat Anh's original.

Actress Ngoc Xuan shared that she thoroughly researched the character Mien through both the book and the script to fully portray the role. Recalling a memorable memory, Ngoc Xuan burst into tears when she filmed the scene where Mien gave birth, becoming a single mother at the age of 18 without a boyfriend by her side.

"Being a mother was something that was hard for me to imagine when I was still a carefree 25-year-old girl with no plans to start a family. Therefore, the scene of Mien lying alone in the hospital giving birth made me very emotional. I had to ask my sisters in the family for their experience in taking care of children," the actress cried at the press conference.

Ngoc Xuan also said that the "hot scene" with Do Nhat Hoang was also a situation that left her with many emotions, even making her cry for an hour after filming.

"In this scene, Mien has many chaotic thoughts because she is about to say goodbye to Phuc and does not know exactly when her boyfriend will return. I tried to hold back my emotions and when the director said filming was over, I cried for 15 minutes, then cried for another 45 minutes on the way back to the hotel.

When Do Nhat Hoang saw me crying, he asked if he did something wrong while filming, but I couldn't stop crying and said it wasn't my fault," Ngoc Xuan said.

Sharing at the premiere, Rima Thanh Vy also said that she has some similarities with the character Lụa (Miên's older sister). "The common point between us is that we both live our lives for love. Even in real life, I once thought about ending my life because of love.

When I knew the character Lụa acted like that, I felt very sorry. However, I still love life and find many beautiful things around me so I have never turned my thoughts into real actions," the actress said.

The movie Once Upon a Time There Was a Love Story is a psychological and emotional film, adapted from the novel of the same name by Nguyen Nhat Anh, first released in 2016, sold more than 100,000 copies, and entered the top 10 of his best-selling works.

The film revolves around the love triangle of Vinh (Avin Lu), Mien (Ngoc Xuan), Phuc (Do Nhat Hoang) - a group of close friends who were close throughout their teenage years in the 90s in the countryside of Phu Yen .

The child actors play the three main characters as children, including Thanh Tu (Vinh), Bao Tien (Mien) and Hao Khang (Phuc).

The movie is scheduled to be released on November 1.
