Before, when she was in high school, Ai was a shy girl, afraid to express herself in front of a crowd, and her academic performance was not too outstanding. Knowing this weakness, when she started university, she joined many clubs and teams at school to meet new friends and practice many soft skills.

Talking about the opportunity to come to the traditional medicine industry, Ai said that she wanted to learn more about medicinal plants and medicinal herbs. During her studies, she experienced and learned about traditional medicine, the methods of diagnosis and treatment with and without drugs, which inspired her to study.

During 6 years of study, Diem Ai achieved excellent academic results in 8/14 semesters. Her overall score was 3.67/4.0, she was an excellent student of the entire course, and the valedictorian of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2022. Not to mention, Ai always tries to improve herself in all aspects, in 2021, she achieved the title of 5 Good Students at the Central level.

Having achieved these admirable results, Diem Ai said that the path was not entirely rosy. Right from her first year of university, the girl from Can Tho city had to study a lot on her own. Most of the lecture hours were spent discussing unanswered questions or teachers guiding students on how to study on their own. The remaining time, students searched for more knowledge to expand the problem.

The "secret" to getting through 6 years of medical school, according to Ai, is to work with a plan. This is very important to help yourself understand and master the large amount of lessons and knowledge. "If you don't plan, even if you study hard, if you don't have enough time, it will be ineffective," Ai shared.

From a shy girl, Diem Ai has improved herself day by day, confidently sharing her learning experiences with many medical students.

However, in the most difficult times, the girl always remembers her late grandmother to have more motivation to overcome.

Ai said that when she was a second-year medical student, her grandmother was old and had many chronic diseases. At that time, Ai focused on studying at school so she had little time to visit her grandmother's health condition, not knowing that her illness had worsened. Until her grandmother had a stroke, her health was bad and she was no longer conscious. Ai did not have much knowledge about the profession or the disease in adults.

"At that time, she lost consciousness and no longer knew anyone, but she still remembered me, her nephew who studied medicine. While taking care of her, she asked me to try on a white blouse for her, and then asked if I knew how to take a capillary blood sugar... When she passed away, I didn't have the chance to do those things," Ai recalled.

Touched by her grandmother's love for her, Diem Ai determined to study hard to not disappoint her grandmother's love, expectations, and hopes, and strive to become a good doctor.

Dr. Le Minh Hoang, Head of the Faculty of Traditional Medicine, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, said that Diem Ai is currently a teaching assistant at the faculty. Although young, she is very capable.
