8th grade female student in Hue was beaten and forced to kneel by her classmates

Public opinion in Hue City is outraged by a serious case of school violence that occurred at Nguyen Chi Dieu Secondary School. This morning, the school sent a report to the Department of Education and Training, and affirmed that it will strictly handle the case.

On October 5, the leader of the People's Committee of Thuan Hoa Ward ( Hue City) confirmed that he had information about the incident in which an 8th grade female student was beaten and forced to kneel by a classmate. The school reported the incident to the Department of Education and Training of Hue City on the same day.

Previously, on the evening of October 4 and the morning of October 5, social networks circulated articles and video clips recording a scene of a female student being surrounded by a group of friends. According to the video, the female student was forced to kneel on the floor and surrounded by a group of many other female students. In the clip, the victim was seen having her hair pulled by a classmate and being slapped repeatedly in the face.

What is condemnable is that when the female student was beaten helplessly, the group of other female students stood around and did not intervene, many even pointed at the victim and shouted to cheer the violence. The clip after being posted caused a wave of indignation, with many comments asking the school to take measures to handle, rectify and condemn school violence.

According to Thanh Nien reporter's verification, the incident was determined to have occurred on the afternoon of October 2 at Nguyen Chi Dieu Secondary School (Thuan Hoa Ward, Hue City). In response to public opinion and direction from the People's Committee of Thuan Hoa Ward, Nguyen Chi Dieu Secondary School sent a detailed report on the incident as well as the education of students at this school to the Department of Education and Training of Hue City on the morning of October 5.

According to a representative of Nguyen Chi Dieu Secondary School, immediately after the incident, the school promptly invited the parents and students involved to work. Nguyen Chi Dieu Secondary School also confirmed that the parents cooperated and actively coordinated in the process of resolving the incident.

The school representative expressed regret, clearly recognized their responsibility, and sent their apologies and condolences to parents and students about the recent school violence incident.

Regarding the handling method, the school affirmed that it will resolutely implement the regulations, ensuring discipline, no prejudice, and appropriateness to the students' psychological characteristics. The focus of handling will be placed on the educational factor, helping students to correctly perceive their behavior and correct their mistakes.
