Notably, Mr. Do Vinh Quang (Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietravel Airlines, son of T&T Group founder Do Quang Hien) also joined the Vietnam Global Data Experts Network as Vice Chairman.

Network of Vietnamese data "engineers" to exploit the "new oil of the 21st century"

On the morning of October 16, the National Data Association coordinated with the People's Committee of Hue City to co-organize the event to announce the Global Data Expert Network (Vietnam Data Expert Network - VDEN) initiated by the National Data Association.

The event marked the beginning of a Vietnamese intellectual community in the data field.

According to the National Data Association, the formation of VDEN is a strategic step in the development of Vietnam's digital economy , aiming to make Vietnam a dynamic center of data economy in the region.

The network brings together nearly 80 Vietnamese experts working in many countries such as the US, Canada, France, Japan, Korea, Singapore...

VDEN is operated according to 5 core principles: voluntary - cooperation - mutual development; transparency - responsibility - integrity; science - quality - continuous innovation; security - compliance with the law; global connection - promoting Vietnamese identity.

In addition to connecting experts and resources, the network also aims to participate in policy consulting, building data standards, training high-quality human resources and promoting innovative projects in the fields of data and artificial intelligence.

The network leadership includes 7 vice presidents, including Mr. Do Vinh Quang (Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietravel Airlines, son of T&T Group founder Do Quang Hien).

"No matter where we are in the world, our hearts are always with our homeland"

At the launching ceremony, Major General Nguyen Ngoc Cuong, Director of the National Data Center and Vice President of the National Data Association, said that data is the "new oil" of the 21st century.

"But to exploit this 'oil mine', we need the best team of 'engineers' with the deepest understanding of technology, strategic vision and international experience. That is why the birth of the Global Data Experts Network is urgent and inevitable," said Mr. Cuong.

Mr. Cuong said that over the past months, with the close direction of the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and tireless efforts, the association has surveyed, connected and called on Vietnamese experts working in developed countries around the world.

As a result, today the network has gathered nearly 80 outstanding experts from the United States, Korea, Japan, Europe, Canada, Australia...

These are people working at the world's leading technology corporations, prestigious research institutes, and prestigious universities, with many years of experience in the fields of data science, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and cybersecurity.

Mr. Cuong said that in the process of approaching the experts, what moved him most was not their professional qualifications, but their hearts and sense of responsibility towards their homeland.

Many experts are holding important positions in large companies, with salaries of hundreds of thousands of dollars per year, but are still willing to spend time and effort to contribute to Vietnam without regard for fame or profit.

"They told us: 'No matter where we are in the world, our hearts always turn to our homeland. If we can contribute a small part to the development of the country, that is the greatest happiness,'" Mr. Cuong said.

Mr. Cuong said the National Data Center will provide data, technical infrastructure and a safe working environment so that experts can conduct research and test new models.

At the same time, the Global Data Experts Network will contribute knowledge, experience, and propose solutions to help the center improve data management capacity, optimize exploitation processes, and ensure information security and safety at the highest level.

"With the support of the Global Data Experts Network, I deeply believe that Vietnam can completely shorten the technology gap and become one of the leading countries in the region in data economy," said Mr. Cuong.

Hue will be the testing ground for data technology platforms.

At the launching ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, said that the announcement of the Global Data Experts Network today is a practical step to connect Vietnam's intelligence, experience and data technology with the world.

"Hue commits to accompanying the National Data Association and the expert community in cooperation programs, testing technology platforms, developing human resources and promoting the data economy - for the goal of 'digital government serving people and businesses'," said Mr. Binh.
