Mr. Vu Tien Thanh denies going to the North: 'I like working at HAGL'

Technical Director Vu Tien Thanh of HAGL Club denied that he will leave this team. Mr. Thanh wants to stay to build more stable achievements for the mountain football team.

HAGL's turbulent season

In the 2024-2025 season, HAGL continues to struggle in the race for relegation. The team was also eliminated quite early in the National Cup. HAGL is still far from its golden age. The last time Mr. Duc's team won the V-League was in 2004. Even HAGL's achievements under Technical Director (GĐKT) Vu Tien Thanh have not yet caught up with the achievements under Coach Kiatisak (who led the V-League 2021, but was not recognized as champion, because the V-League that year was canceled halfway).

Therefore, when staying, Mr. Vu Tien Thanh is determined to build a more stable team. Mr. Vu Tien Thanh denied the information that he will go to the North next season and clearly stated the reason for his determination to stick with the mountain town team: "I like working at HAGL Club, because my passion is training young players. HAGL Academy is very important to Vietnamese football".

The difficulty for this Technical Director is that after the 2024-2025 season, many key players will leave the team, notably two attacking midfielders Tran Minh Vuong and Chau Ngoc Quang. In the back line, winger Dung Quang Nho will also leave. These are HAGL's most experienced domestic players in the current season.

Change of force, change of performance?

However, in the hands of Mr. Vu Tien Thanh there are still young faces with great potential such as goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien, central defenders Pham Ly Duc, Dinh Quang Kiet, Nguyen Van Trieu, strikers Tran Gia Bao, Tran Bao Toan...

All of these players come from the HAGL football academy. They have known each other since childhood, have a similar playing style, so it is easy to create cohesion for these players in the HAGL first team in the near future. The remaining task of Mr. Vu Tien Thanh is to help them become more combative, more elite, and strong enough to compete with other opponents in the V-League.

Another task of this Technical Director in helping to improve HAGL's performance is to select better foreign players to create momentum for the team. Foreign players are also one of the weak points of HAGL in the second half of the 2023-2024 season, the beginning of the 2024-2025 season, the first period when Mr. Vu Tien Thanh worked at HAGL.

HAGL fans do not want to see the team struggling to stay in the league season after season. Mr. Thanh's mission when he decided to stay with the mountain town team is to change that reality, to change the achievements of HAGL.
